A simple score to predict atherosclerotic or embolic intracranial large-vessel occlusion stroke before endovascular treatment
CONCLUSIONS: The atrial fibrillation-blood pressure-clinical neurological deficit-computed tomography hyperdense sign-diabetes mellitus (ABC2D) score can be used to identify atherosclerotic or embolic etiology of patients with ILVOS who require emergency endovascular treatment.PMID:35303701 | DOI:10.3171/2022.1.JNS212924

032 Improving access to inpatient ambulatory cardiac monitoring for acute stroke patients during the Covid-19 pandemic
Discussion There was a significant shift in clinical practice and diagnostic access to inpatient ACM during the pandemic, resulting in a greater proportion of tests, increased identification of AF and early anticoagulation, leading to improved patient care and potentially preventing further ischaemic events. harriet jeffery@nhs.net|ABN Bursary 41

P-005 Predictors for large vessel recanalization before stroke thrombectomy
ConclusionsIVT at least 1.5 hours before angiography, site of vascular occlusion, atrial fibrillation, and hyperlipidemia are independent predictors for LVR. The 8-point Recan score proposed in this study may be a valuable tool for predicting LVR before EVT.Abstract P-005 Figure 1Disclosures H. Chen: None. M. Colasurdo: None. C. Schrier: None. M. P-015 flow stasis after the deployment of stent-retriever predicts successful final recanalization in acute stroke patients
ConclusionLoss of IFR effect during the embedding time after deployment of stent retriever was associated with successful recanalization. It may be an angiographic sign of adequate thrombus engagement with the stent retriever. This observation may be useful in order to optimize the embedding time during which a stent retriever cuts into the occlusive thrombus particularly when a new stent retriever is introduced to the clinical practice.DisclosuresS. Lesion location, stability, and pretreatment management: factors affecting outcomes of endovascular treatment for vertebrobasilar atherosclerosis
Conclusions Endovascular treatment of symptomatic vertebrobasilar atherosclerosis can be performed safely and with good outcomes. Technical results were better for those with extracranial disease while clinical outcomes were more favorable in those patients with non-progressive symptoms in the subacute period and those receiving statin therapy.

Atrial fibrillation and stroke as initial manifestations of painless type A aortic dissection
In conclusion, apart from imaging the aortic arch by computed tomography in acute stroke patients, the electrocardiogram may be indicative for aortic dissection if it shows signs for myocardial ischemia in previously healthy patients.

Direct thrombectomy versus bridging thrombolysis with mechanical thrombectomy in middle cerebral artery stroke: a real-world analysis through National Inpatient Sample data
CONCLUSIONS: In the analysis of the NIS database, the MT+IVT group had significantly higher rates of minimal disability at the time of hospital discharge versus the MT-alone group, despite a higher rate of ICH. The question of whether to treat patients with MT+IVT rather than MT alone is currently being addressed in ongoing prospective clinical trials (SWIFT-DIRECT [NCT03494920], MR CLEAN-NO IV [ISRCTN80619088], and DIRECT-SAFE [NCT03494920]). The results of these studies will contribute to greater understanding and progressive improvement in outcomes for AIS patients.PMID:34198246 | DOI:10.3171/2021.4.FOCUS21132
