Midterm Outcomes of Carotid-to-Carotid Bypass for Hybrid Treatment of Aortic Arch Disease
Conclusions: CCBs are durable at midterm follow-up. No relevant superiority was identified between the 2 types of CCB; subcutaneous and retropharyngeal routes proved to be equally safe.

Management of airway compromise following thyroid cyst hemorrhage after thrombolytic therapy
We present a case of a 62‐year‐old female with undiagnosed thyroid goiter who received tPA for acute ischemic stroke and developed acute airway compromise. The surgical airway response team was called due to inability to ventilate or intubate. An incision into the mass during attempted tracheotomy released colloid and blood, decompressing the airway and facilitating ventilation and intubation. Hemithyroidectomy for mass removal was delayed for 3 days to allow normalization of post‐tPA coagulopathy. Laryngoscope, 2014

Short and long term outcomes of 200 patients supported by continuous-flow left ventricular assist devices.
CONCLUSION: Short and long term survival for patients on LVAD support are excellent, although outcomes still remain inferior compared to heart transplantation. The incidence of driveline infections, pump thrombosis and pump exchange have declined significantly in recent years. PMID: 26635927 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cardiovascular Considerations in Anesthetic Management for a Patient With Antiphospholipid Syndrome and Decreased Cardiac Function: A Case Study
Anesth Prog. 2020 Mar 1;68(1):33-37. doi: 10.2344/anpr-67-03-07.ABSTRACTThis case report describes the prolonged general anesthetic management of a 41-year-old woman with antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), systemic lupus erythematosus, and previously undiagnosed decreased cardiac function who underwent planned partial resection of the left tongue, tracheostomy, neck dissection, and pedicled flap reconstruction. This was immediately followed by emergent surgery to salvage the flap, and 1 month later, revision of the soft tissue flap was performed. A preoperative echocardiogram was performed because of her various risk factors...
