Cn-14 * retrospective analysis of ischemic cerebral strokes in patients diagnosed with a glioblastoma during the course of a bevacizumab treatment
Bevacizumab is an anti-vascular endothelial growth factor approved in the treatment of recurrent glioblastoma. It prolongs progression-free survival, improes radiologic response and contributes to reduce the dose of dexamethasone required to control peritumoral edema. Arterial and venous thromboembolic events represent significant toxicities related to the use of angiogenesis inhibitors. Various mechanisms could be implicated in bevacizumab-related strokes, as cardioembolic, lacunar stroke related to hypertension, deep venous thrombosis passing through a patent foramen ovale, pro-coagulant effect of the underlying glioblas...

Unusual Techniques for Preserving Surgical and Oncologic Safety in Hepatectomy of Advanced Adrenal Malignancy with Vena Cava and Liver Invasion
We report herein three cases of major hepatectomy with IVC invasion and discuss several surgical tips.Patients and MethodsFrom March 2011 to February 2014, we retrospectively reviewed three cases of adrenal malignancy with liver and IVC invasion. Based on the severity of the malignant tumor, each case illustrates a different method to address surgical complications and maintain oncologic safety. Case 1: A 34-year-old woman was diagnosed with adrenocortical tumor during medical examination. Tumor invaded the right lobe of the liver and very close to the IVC. Fortunately, there was little thrombosis inside the IVC; we perfor...

The effect of butylphthalide on improving the neurological function of patients with acute anterior circulation cerebral infarction after mechanical thrombectomy
Medicine (Baltimore). 2023 Aug 25;102(34):e34616. doi: 10.1097/MD.0000000000034616.ABSTRACTButylphthalide can improve blood circulation in patients with acute cerebral infarction. Complement 3a receptor 1 (C3aR1) is involved in the regulation of innate immune response and pathogen monitoring, which is closely related to the pathophysiological processes of breast cancer, neurogenesis and lipid catabolism. Our study explored the therapeutic effect of butylphthalide on improving the neurological function of patients with acute anterior circulation cerebral infarction after mechanical thrombectomy, and evaluated the correlatio...
