Basilar artery occlusion presenting as sudden bilateral deafness: a case report
ConclusionsWhen hearing loss is due to vertebrobasilar occlusive disease, the prognosis is very poor. We suggest that vertebrobasilar stroke be suspected in patients with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss who present with risk factors for stroke such as atrial fibrillation and other neurologic signs.

Recurrent cerebellar infarction associated with hereditary heterozygous protein C deficiency in a 35-year-old woman: A case report and genetic study on the pedigree.
In conclusion, the clinical manifestations of hereditary PROC deficiency may vary between individuals. The heterozygous mutation locus c.565C>T on the PROC gene is associated with thrombophilia. Awareness of the association between natural anticoagulants and thrombophilia may promote the prevention and therapy of stroke. PMID: 30210609 [PubMed]

A study of clinical, radiological and etiological profile of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis at a tertiary care center
ConclusionCVST is an important yet under recognized cause of intracranial hypertension and stroke in young. Clinical presentation is extremely varied and a high index of suspicion is needed. Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) brain with Magnetic Resonance Venography (MRV) is the current diagnostic modality of choice. Elevated factor VIII and puerperium are the common etiologies in an Indian population. Management with anticoagulants is safe and has excellent clinical outcomes.

An ischemic stroke patient with free floating thrombus in carotid artery, successfully treated by open carotid thrombectomy: a first case report in Nepal.
We present a case in which we performed open surgery and achieved successful retrieval of the thrombus. A 40 year-old male patient presented with ischemic stroke and mild left hemiparesis. Computerized tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed infarction in the right parieto-occipital area. Carotid Doppler study showed carotid stenosis on the right side. Further investigation with CT angiography of the neck vessels confirmed significant carotid artery occlusion with a free-floating thrombus in the internal carotid artery. Carotid endarterectomy was planned under EEG monitoring. The right carotid artery was exposed w...

Thrombus Aspiration in ThrOmbus containing culpRiT lesions in Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (TATORT-NSTEMI): study protocol for a randomized controlled trial
Background: Current guidelines recommend thrombus aspiration in patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI); however, there are insufficient data to unequivocally support thrombectomy in patients with non-STEMI (NSTEMI). Methods: The TATORT-NSTEMI (Thrombus Aspiration in ThrOmbus containing culpRiT lesions in Non-ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction) trial is a prospective, controlled, multicenter, randomized, open-label trial enrolling 460 patients. The hypothesis is that, against a background of early revascularization, adjunctive thrombectomy leads to less microvascular obstruction (MO) compared with conventi...
