ConclusionThe PSSS score was a major risk factor for the development of depression in IS survivors, and patients’ depression status and severe functional deficits had a negative impact on the ZBI score of the main caregivers. Social support can reduce the ZBI score.

Serum alkaline phosphatase was independently associated with depression in patients with cerebrovascular disease
ConclusionHb, hs-CRP, ChE, ALP, and HDL-C concentrations are potential blood markers of depression in CVD patients and, when combined, may improve diagnostic performance for VDe. Serum ALP was independently associated with VDe in patients with CVD.

ConclusionThe causal association between PPD and cognitive impairment indicates that cognitive impairment is a critical aspect of PPD and thus cannot be regarded as an epiphenomenon. Addressing cognitive impairment and lessening the symptoms associated with PPD independently play significant roles in the treatment of PPD.
