Ischemic stroke in Morocco: Prehospital delay and associated factors
CONCLUSION: Patient behavior, bystander knowledge and direct admission to the competent hospital for stroke care are modifiable factors potentially useful for reducing onset-to-door time, and thereby increasing the implementation rates of acute stroke therapies.PMID:34148762 | DOI:10.1016/j.respe.2021.03.010

The Association between Adult Height and Stroke Incidence in Japanese Men and Women: A Population- Based Case- Control Study
CONCLUSIONS: We reported the associations between adult height and ischemic stroke subtypes for the first time, which differed according to sex and age-group.PMID:34176853 | DOI:10.2188/jea.JE20200531

Incidence of aphasia in ischemic stroke
Conclusion: Even though the overall IS incidence rate has decreased during the first decades of the 21st century, the proportion of IS patients with aphasia at stroke onset remains stable at 30%. Aphasia continues to be an important symptom that needs to be considered in stroke care and rehabilitation.

Long-term risk of stroke after traumatic brain injury: A population-based medical record review study
Conclusion By confirming TBI cases, stroke diagnoses, and injury severity classification using manual review with levels of accuracy not previously reported, these results indicate moderate-severe TBI increases long-term risk for stroke. These findings confirm the need to regularly a ssess long-term vascular risk after TBI to implement disease prevention strategies.

Within-Visit Blood Pressure Variability and All-Cause and Stroke Mortality: Thai Epidemiologic Stroke (TES) Study
This study included 19,614 participants aged 45-80 years, who were free o f stroke and had three blood pressure (BP) measurements, taken one minute apart, at baseline. Within-visit systolic blood pressure (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) variability were expressed as the maximum absolute difference (MAD) between any two readings among the three repeated sequentia l measurements of SBP and DBP respectively. The participants were followed up for mortality. Cox regression analysis was used to identify the association of within-visit BPV with all cause and stroke mortality. Hazard ratio (HR) and 95% confidence interval...

Risk and population attributable fraction of stroke subtypes in Japan
CONCLUSION: Although there are differences according to the subtypes, hypertension could be regarded as the most crucial target for preventing strokes in Japan.PMID:37460296 | DOI:10.2188/jea.JE20220364
