White Matter Hyperintensity Volume and Outcome of Mechanical Thrombectomy With Stentriever in Acute Ischemic Stroke Brief Report
Conclusions—Mechanical thrombectomy using stentrievers seems to be safe in selected patients with acute ischemic stroke with large vessel occlusion, nonwithstanding the severity of WMH burden in this population. Larger prospective studies are warranted to validate these findings.

Minimal Clinically Important Difference for Safe and Simple Novel Acute Ischemic Stroke Therapies Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Stroke expert responses to MCID surveys are affected by anchoring and centrality bias. When survey design takes these into account, the expert-derived MCID for a safe acute ischemic stroke treatment is 1.1% to 1.5%, in accord with actual physician behavior in guideline writing and clinical practice. This revised MCID value can guide clinical trial design and grant-funding and regulatory agency decisions.

Predictors of Good Outcome After Endovascular Therapy for Vertebrobasilar Occlusion Stroke Clinical Sciences
Background and Purpose—Endovascular therapy is increasingly used in acute ischemic stroke treatment and is now considered the gold standard approach for selected patient populations. Prior studies have demonstrated that eventual patient outcomes depend on both patient-specific factors and procedural considerations. However, these factors remain unclear for acute basilar artery occlusion stroke. We sought to determine prognostic factors of good outcome in acute posterior circulation large vessel occlusion strokes treated with endovascular therapy. Methods—We reviewed our prospectively collected endovascular databases at ...

Validating a Pragmatic Approach to Cognitive Screening in Stroke Prevention Clinics Using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Clinical Sciences
Conclusions— Stratifying participants into 3 categories facilitates the identification of a homogenous group at low risk for CI, as well as 2 other groups with intermediate and higher risk. This approach could facilitate clinical care pathways and patient selection for research.

Ischemic Stroke Profile, Risk Factors, and Outcomes in India Brief Report
Background and Purpose—The Indo-US Collaborative Stroke Project was designed to characterize ischemic stroke across 5 high-volume academic tertiary hospitals in India. Methods—From January 2012 to August 2014, research coordinators and physician coinvestigators prospectively collected data on 2066 patients with ischemic stroke admitted

Academic Year-end Changeover and Stroke Outcomes
Lower quality of care and poorer outcomes are suspected when new trainees (eg, residents) start in July in teaching hospitals, the so-called “the July effect.” We evaluated outcomes and processes of care among patients with an acute ischemic stroke (AIS) admitted in July versus other 11 months of the year.

Stroke Treatment Academic Industry Roundtable Recommendations for Individual Data Pooling Analyses in Stroke Special Reports
Pooled analysis of individual patient data from stroke trials can deliver more precise estimates of treatment effect, enhance power to examine prespecified subgroups, and facilitate exploration of treatment-modifying influences. Analysis plans should be declared, and preferably published, before trial results are known. For pooling trials that used diverse analytic approaches, an ordinal analysis is favored, with justification for considering deaths and severe disability jointly. Because trial pooling is an incremental process, analyses should follow a sequential approach, with statistical adjustment for iterations. Update...

Posterior circulation stroke is associated with prolonged door‐to‐needle time
ConclusionsPosterior circulation stroke patients had a delay in neurology evaluation after initial emergency department evaluation and a delay in intravenous tissue plasminogen activator administration compared with anterior circulation stroke patients. There may be difficulties in rapidly recognizing the symptoms of posterior circulation stroke, in contrast to anterior circulation stroke, in the emergency department.

Correlation of NIH Stroke Scale Change and Vascular Risk Factors in Acute Stroke Patients (P7.164)
Conclusion:In this small sample, change in NIH stroke scale admission through discharge may be a useful quality outcome measure in acute stroke. Tobacco use was harmful in this sample. Presence of hypertension and absence of diabetes showed benefit in select acute stroke outcomes. Investigating the special cause improvements in this population may help identify ways to improve outcomes. Shewhart control charts may provide useful information when examining quality that might be missed on routine statistical methods.Disclosure: Dr. Krishnamohan has nothing to disclose. Race/Ethnic Disparities for In-Hospital Mortality and Disability at Discharge after Acute Ischemic Stroke: Florida Puerto Rico Collaboration to Reduce Stroke Disparities (P5.287)
Conclusions:In our large Florida Stroke Registry, we observed lower in-hospital mortality, but greater disability at discharge after stroke among blacks in comparison to whites. This paradox needs further exploration to design and implement interventions to improve stroke outcome and reduce disparities in post-stroke disability.Disclosure: Dr. Simonetto has nothing to disclose. Reducing Door-To-Needle Times for Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke: Quality Improvement Initiative at a High Volume Comprehensive Stroke Center (P4.309)
CONCLUSION: With multiple institution specific interventions it is possible to improve the DTN time even at a high volume non-academic center. One of the key component appears to be the in-house presence of a stroke neurologist 24hours /7days a week.Disclosure: Dr. Sapkota has nothing to disclose. Dr. Sirelkhatim has nothing to disclose.
