Protective Roles of Adropin in Neurological Disease
Am J Physiol Cell Physiol. 2023 Jan 30. doi: 10.1152/ajpcell.00318.2022. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTAdropin is a highly conserved secreted peptide encoded by the Energy Homeostasis Associated gene (Enho). It is expressed in many tissues throughout the body, including the liver and brain, and plays a crucial role in maintaining lipid homeostasis and regulating insulin sensitivity. Adropin also participates in several other pathophysiological processes of multiple central nervous system (CNS) diseases. There is strong evidence of the protective effects of adropin in stroke, heart disease, aging, and other diseases. The pe...

Exosome-transported lncRNA H19 regulates insulin-like growth factor-1 via the H19/let-7a/insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor axis in ischemic stroke
This study provides the first evidence for the transportation of lncRNA H19 by exosomes and the relationship between lncRNA H19 and insulin-like growth factor-1.PMID:36453417 | DOI:10.4103/1673-5374.357901

Dental Pulp Stem Cell-Derived Conditioned Medium Alleviates Subarachnoid Hemorrhage-Induced Microcirculation Impairment by Promoting M2 Microglia Polarization and Reducing Astrocyte Swelling
This study aimed to investigate whether dental pulp stem cell conditioned medium (DPSC-CM) ameliorates SAH-induced microcirculation impairment and the underlying mechanisms. SAH was induced via intrathecal injection of fresh autologous blood in Wistar male adult rat. DPSC-CM or DPSC-CM + insulin growth factor-1 (IGF-1) antibody was randomly administered by intrathecal route 5 min after SAH induction. To evaluate the underlying mechanisms of DPSC-CM in the treatment of SAH, primary rat astrocyte and microglia co-cultures were challenged with hemolysate or SAH-patient CSF in the presence or absence of DPSC-CM. The results sh...

Long non-coding RNA RPL34-AS1 ameliorates oxygen –glucose deprivation-induced neuronal injury via modulating miR-223–3p/IGF1R axis
In this study, RPL34-AS1 expression was reduced in patients suffering from ischemic s troke. The overexpression of RPL34-AS1 reduced ischemic brain damage. However, the cell viability and glucose uptake were increased, and the apoptosis rate was decreased in the OGD/R-induced neurons. Further, miR-223-3p resulted in the decreased cell viability and glucose uptake and the increased ce ll apoptosis to cause ischemic brain damage. Besides, the neuroprotective effects of RPL34-AS1 on OGD/R injury were partly reversed by miR-223–3p. Mechanistically, lncRNA RPL34-AS1 could function as the competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) of mi...
