Effects of Blood Pressure in the Early Phase of Ischemic Stroke and Stroke Subtype on Poststroke Cognitive Impairment Clinical Sciences
This study was to investigate the impact of BP levels in the early phase of ischemic stroke and stroke subtype on PSCI.Methods—Seven hundred and ninety-six patients with acute ischemic stroke were included. Cognitive function was assessed after stroke onset using the Montreal Cognitive Assessment. Patients were divided into quintiles according to systolic BP and diastolic BP levels in the early phase. Distribution of Lacunar Infarcts in Asians With Intracerebral Hemorrhage Brief Report
Conclusions—Our findings expand on recent work showing that lobar lacunes are more frequent in CAA-ICH than hypertensive ICH. Their independent association with lobar cerebral microbleeds and brain amyloid deposition suggests a relationship with CAA even in an Asian cohort with overall higher hypertensive load.

Infections and Risk of Peripartum Stroke During Delivery Admissions Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Infections present on admission increased stroke risk during delivery admissions in women with and without hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. The results were driven by genitourinary infections and sepsis. Infections may be an underrecognized precipitant of peripartum stroke.

Impact of Smoking on Clinical Outcome and Recanalization After Intravenous Thrombolysis for Stroke Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Our study suggests that good outcome in smokers is mainly related to differences in baseline characteristics and not to biological effects of smoking. The higher recanalization rates in smokers, however, call for further studies.

Residential Proximity to Major Roadways and Risk of Incident Ischemic Stroke in NOMAS (The Northern Manhattan Study) Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—In this urban multiethnic cohort, we found evidence supporting that within-city variation in residential proximity to major roadway is associated with higher risk of ischemic stroke. An individual’s smoking history modified this association, with the association remaining only among participants not currently smokers.

Risk Factors for and Clinical Consequences of Multiple Intracranial Aneurysms Clinical Sciences
Conclusions—Female sex, higher age, arterial hypertension, smoking, and familial IA are major risk factors for MIA. In addition, MIA patients are at risk for enhanced IA formation. Further studies are needed to evaluate rupture risk and the role of ethnicity, especially in the context of increased MIA identification with improved neurovascular imaging.
