Prognostic Factors of the Lethality of Stroke at the Sour ô Sanou University Teaching Hospital of Burkina Faso
Conclusion: The study has identified three prognostic factors of lethality that are the hemorrhagic stroke type, the altered state of consciousness, and the central facial paralysis. Risk factors of stroke recurrence in a low income country: case of Senegal (P6.289)
Conclusions:Stroke recurrence is relatively frequent in Senegal. Frequently, patients are irregularly followed up sometimes because of the unavailability of neurologists and neurology unit in peripheral regions and the cost of treatment. Sonothrombolysis for acute ischemic stroke - Break on through to the other side
Conclusions: Sonothrombolysis appears to be a safe way to augment the effect of tPA without increasing the door to needle time with the added advantage of observing flow through the occluded artery in real time.

Teaching NeuroImages: Intracranial vertebral dissection in a 15-year-old boy with sickle cell disease
A 15-year-old boy with sickle cell disease became unresponsive after sudden-onset headache. There was no antecedent trauma. A head CT scan demonstrated subarachnoid hemorrhage at the medulla (figure). Magnetic resonance angiography of the head and neck identified the patient's known bilateral internal carotid artery stenosis (a moyamoya-like arteriopathy associated with stroke in sickle cell disease) and a new right vertebral artery dissection, which was confirmed on conventional angiography (figure). Prior MRI performed as part of routine cerebral monitoring did not reveal any preexisting abnormality of the vertebral artery.

Teaching NeuroImages: Multicompartmental intracranial hemorrhage in a pediatric patient
A previously healthy 9-year-old girl presented with sudden-onset headache followed by confusion. In the emergency department, she was hypertensive, bradycardic, and no longer responsive to any stimuli. An emergent head CT scan demonstrated a left frontal intraparenchymal hematoma with intraventricular and subarachnoid extension as well as subfalcine herniation (figure). She underwent decompressive hemicraniectomy, and digital subtraction angiography confirmed a 7-mm left middle cerebral artery aneurysm (figure).

A multi-modal approach to quality improvement: reducing 'door-to-ct' time in potenitally thombolysable stroke patients
Conclusion Early thrombolysis has been shown to improve outcomes in patients with ischaemic stroke.2 Reducing ‘Door-to-CT' scan time in the ED is an important step in enabling a reduction in the overall DTN time. This can be achieved by stream-lining key processes in the patient journey through the ED. A multi-modal approach ensured this change was introduced safely and effectively whilst re-enforcing a core change to standard working practice.
