Multimodal investigation reveals the neuroprotective mechanism of Angong Niuhuang pill for intracerebral hemorrhage: Converging bioinformatics, network pharmacology, and experimental validation
CONCLUSION: The results of the study combined with virtual screening and experimental validation showed that ANP has an important contribution in protecting the brain from neuronal damage by regulating the pathways of inflammation and pyroptosis, laying the foundation and innovative ideas for future studies.PMID:37633621 | DOI:10.1016/j.jep.2023.117045

Association of Homocysteine with Acute Stroke and Its Subtypes in the Chinese Population
CONCLUSION: Plasma Hcy levels were found to be positively correlated with the risk of stroke, particularly in the context of LAA, SAO stroke, and HICH. Additionally, Hcy levels demonstrated a positive correlation with stroke severity in patients presenting with SAO stroke. These findings suggest potential clinical implications in stroke prevention, particularly for ischemic stroke (LAA, SAO subtypes) and HICH by employing homocysteine-lowering therapies. Future investigations are warranted to fully elucidate these associations.PMID:37342757 | PMC:PMC10278861 | DOI:10.2147/NDT.S409591

A Small Increase in Serum Creatinine within 48  h of Hospital Admission Is an Independent Predictor of In-Hospital Adverse Outcomes in Patients with ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction Undergoing Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Findings from the Improving Care for Cardiovascular Disease in the China Project
CONCLUSION: A small increase in Scr during hospitalization in patients with STEMI undergoing primary PCI that does not meet the criteria for AKI is a risk factor for in-hospital adverse outcomes. This effect is maintained in patients with normal Scr at hospitalization. Trial Registration. Clinical trial registration: URL: https://www.clinicaltrials.gov. Unique identifier: NCT02306616.PMID:37025394 | PMC:PMC10072956 | DOI:10.1155/2023/1374206

Association of Tirofiban With Functional Outcomes After Thrombectomy in Acute Ischemic Stroke Due to Intracranial Atherosclerotic Disease
CONCLUSION: In this post hoc analysis of the RESCUE BT trial, tirofiban was an effective and well-tolerated adjuvant medication of endovascular thrombectomy for patients with large vessel occlusion due to intracranial atherosclerosis. These findings need to be confirmed in future trials.PMID:36941074 | DOI:10.1212/WNL.0000000000207194

Differences in left and right carotid plaque vulnerability in patients with bilateral carotid plaques: a CARE-II study
CONCLUSIONS: There were asymmetries in plaque growth and evolution between BCPs. The left carotid plaques were more likely to have larger plaque burden, higher prevalence of LRNC and greater IPH volume, which may contribute to the lateralisation of ischaemic stroke in the cerebral hemispheres.PMID:36596656 | DOI:10.1136/svn-2022-001937

Changes in blood pressure and cardiovascular disease in middle-aged to older Chinese: the Guangzhou Biobank Cohort Study
Conclusion: Most people between 50 and 70 years of age and not taking antihypertensive medication maintained a slow increase SBP trajectory over a follow-up period of approximately 7 years. However, those whose SBPs increased from low and moderate levels were associated with higher CVD risks.

Network pharmacological analysis of active components of Tongqiao Huoxue Decoction in the treatment of intracerebral hemorrhage
CONCLUSIONS: In summary, the results of this study suggest that the mechanism of action of TQHXD in the treatment of ICH involves multiple targets and signaling pathways related to its occurrence and development. This study not only provides a new theoretical basis for the treatment of ICH with traditional Chinese medicine, but also provides new ideas for the research and development of drugs for the treatment of ICH.PMID:35722393 | PMC:PMC9201131 | DOI:10.21037/atm-22-1403

Association of Stroke Subtype With Hemorrhagic Transformation Mediated by Thrombectomy Pass: Data From the ANGEL-ACT Registry
CONCLUSIONS: Stroke subtype is an independent risk factor for HT within 24 hours following endovascular treatment among acute large vessel occlusion patients. Mediation analyses propose that stroke subtype contributes to HT partly through thrombectomy pass, suggesting a possible pathomechanistic link.PMID:35354298 | DOI:10.1161/STROKEAHA.121.037411

Cerebrovascular Complications After Adult-Onset Varicella-Zoster Virus Encephalitis in the Central Nervous System: A Literature Review
CONCLUSION: Ischemic stroke was the majority of cerebrovascular complications after VZV encephalitis, which mainly occurred in middle-aged men. The lesions of VZV-associated cerebral infarction or hemorrhage were multifocal and did not accord with the characteristics of cerebrovascular diseases induced by atherosclerosis. The patients with venous sinus thrombosis had a relatively good prognosis. When the patient represents with some neurological symptoms about one month after VZV encephalitis, and multiple lesions probably induced by vasculitis are showed in neuroimaging, cerebrovascular complications related to VZV infect...
