Nutritional status as a predictor of comprehensive activities of daily living function and quality of life in patients with stroke
CONCLUSIONS: This study has revealed a relationship between nutritional status, comprehensive ADL function, and QOL among patients with stroke. Patients with stroke with better nutritional status had higher ADL function as well as better QOL. The MNA-SF was useful in predicting comprehensive ADL, whereas, the full MNA could be used to predict QOL. Knowledge and evidence of the association and predictive power of the MNA-SF and full MNA could guide clinicians to choose tools for assessing the nutritional status of patients with stroke more effectively.PMID:33814468 | DOI:10.3233/NRE-201540

Water-based therapeutic exercise in stroke: a scoping review
CONCLUSIONS: This scoping review highlights common parameters of WBTE interventions and provides an inventory of the differences in the treatment approaches utilized in this population. Opportunities for future work include the development of a standardized treatment protocol, qualitative or mixed methodology research, and greater inclusion of more individuals with more severe stroke-related impairments. IMPLICATIONS FOR REHABILITATIONWater-based therapeutic exercise is an approach that may allow stroke survivors to carry out challenging activities in a safe and accessible environment.Water-based interventions for stroke s...

Early multidisciplinary prevention program of post-stroke shoulder pain: A randomized clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: This study failed to demonstrate the benefit of a specific positioning tool in reducing the intensity of post-stroke shoulder pain which was lower than previously reported in the literature.PMID:35505589 | DOI:10.1177/02692155221098733

Functional network characteristics based on EEG of patients in acute ischemic stroke: A pilot study
CONCLUSION: Functional brain networks in patients with acute ischemic stroke showed impaired global functional integration and decreased efficiency of information transmission compared with healthy subjects. The shortening of the shortest path length during the recovery indicates neural plasticity and reorganization.PMID:35848041 | DOI:10.3233/NRE-220107
