Interventions for the uptake of evidence-based recommendations in acute stroke settings
CONCLUSIONS: We are uncertain whether a multifaceted implementation intervention compared to no intervention improves adherence to evidence-based recommendations in acute stroke settings, because the certainty of evidence is very low.PMID:37565934 | PMC:PMC10416310 | DOI:10.1002/14651858.CD012520.pub2

Drivers of healthcare costs in patients with ischaemic stroke: a hospital-based retrospective cohort study
Conclusion The number of admitted days was the most important driver of costs in all subgroups of patients with ischaemic stroke. This implicates that to reduce healthcare costs for patients who had a stroke, focus should be on reducing length of hospital stay.

Access to stroke care in Europe: results of a vignette approach
ConclusionsWhile stroke related services are formally covered in almost all countries, considerable access problems exist in several countries. Future cross-country surveys of access to stroke care should collect quantitative data related to proportions of patients receiving particular services as well as qualitative data on access barriers.

Screening and follow-up care for cognitive and emotional problems after transient ischaemic attack and ischaemic stroke: a national, cross-sectional, online survey among neurologists in the Netherlands
Conclusions This study demonstrates that clinical practice at neurology departments is highly variable regarding screening, information provision and follow-up care for cognitive and emotional problems in patients after TIA or ischaemic stroke. Approximately half of the participating neurologists reported that screening was performed only sometimes or never for cognitive and emotional problems after TIA and ischaemic stroke.

Diagnostic and (new) therapeutic options for resistant hypertension: a short review.
Abstract Hypertension is a major risk factor for ischaemic heart disease and stroke. Despite the availability of numerous pharmacological treatment options, blood pressure (BP) targets are often not achieved. The inability to reach BP levels below 140/90 mmHg despite the use of three or more antihypertensive drugs is defined as resistant hypertension (RH). The etiology for RH is multifactorial. First, BP should be appropriately measured. In order to improve BP control, lifestyle modification should be recommended, adherence should be carefully assessed to exclude pseudo-resistance, and efforts should be made to ex...
