A Nationwide Analysis of Outcomes of Stroke in Hospitalized Patients with Essential Thrombocythemia: 2006 to 2014
Conclusions:Patients with ET who are hospitalized with stroke have significantly worse outcomes. This study demonstrated that a statistically significant difference exists among different age groups of patients with ET and stoke who died during hospitalization when stratification is made using age groups and Charlson Score. This study may serve as an initial point to include new risk factors for further risk stratification. Rapid Decline in Kidney Function in Sickle Cell Disease
Conclusion:Rapid decline in eGFR is common in SCD. Use of ACE-I/ARB and history of stroke are associated with rapid decline in renal function. Rapid decline in eGFR is associated with an increased risk of death in SCD. Increased Risk of Lymphoid Malignancy in Patients with Herpes Zoster: A Longitudinal Follow-up Study Using a National Cohort Study

Medical Conditions Among Survivors of Adolescent and Young Adult Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma (NHL), Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML)
Conclusion: This study found that sociodemographic factors were associated with the risk of developing medical conditions in AYA NHL, ALL and AML survivors. As expected, the risk of medical conditions varied by cancer type and treatment, with those undergoing SCT having a higher risk of medical conditions regardless of cancer type. NHL and ALL survivors who were uninsured or publicly insured were at a consistently higher risk of developing medical conditions, as were Hispanic ALL survivors and Black AML survivors. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) in the U.S. Hemophilia Population: A Cohort Study
Conclusions: In this interim analysis of an ongoing national prospective cohort study, older men with moderate to severe hemophilia commonly report risk factors for CKD, including HTN (51.5%), DM, viral infection, and potential renal damaging medication use. Only 11.6% had CVD. Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in Patients with Sickle Cell Disease: A Population-Based Longitudinal Analysis of Three Cohorts
ConclusionWe present evidence describing the prevalence of T2DM in patients with SCD both in a commercially-insured population and from an institution-based clinical cohort. These findings were similar to a general African American population with an increasing trend in T2DM over recent years.
