Administration of Milrinone Following Tetralogy of Fallot Repair Increases Postoperative Volume Administration Without Improving Cardiac Output
CONCLUSIONS: The use of milrinone within the first 72 hours following TOF repair is associated with more frequent administration of volume, a positive association between a higher total dose of postoperative milrinone and the amount of postoperative volume administered, a higher heart rate, and a lower blood pressure, but is not associated with improved cardiac output.PMID:37733944 | DOI:10.1213/ANE.0000000000006662

Pancycle aortic incompetence and double alternans in pediatric heart failure
Ann Card Anaesth. 2023 Apr-Jun;26(2):232-234. doi: 10.4103/aca.aca_194_21.ABSTRACTA 12-year-old boy presented with bicuspid aortic valve, severe aortic regurgitation, and dilated dysfunctional left ventricle in heart failure. He underwent aortic valve replacement with a 23 mm TTK Chitra heart valve prosthesis (tilting disk). He was gradually weaned off milrinone and noradrenaline in the intensive care. Echocardiography showed severe left ventricular dysfunction with an ejection fraction of 24%. The radial pulse was regular and of normal volume but exactly half that of the heart rate. Evaluation of the rhythm and echocardio...

Clinical presentation, diagnosis, and management of a primary cardiac tumor: A case report
CONCLUSIONS: For patients with malignant tumor, most of them had local invasion or had distant metastasis when the diagnosis was clear, and only conservative management could be done. Moreover, the prognosis of malignant tumor is poor, and the pathological morphology is diverse. The causes of death are due to widespread tumor metastasis, refractory heart failure, and various arrhythmias.PMID:37596232 | DOI:10.1016/j.asjsur.2023.07.099
