Gender Difference of Blood Pressure Control Rate and Clinical Prognosis in Patients With Resistant Hypertension: Real-World Observation Study
CONCLUSION: In resistant hypertension, men were younger than women, but end-organ damage was more common and the risk of cardiovascular event was higher. More intensive cardiovascular prevention strategies may be required in male patients with resistant hypertension.PMID:37096308 | PMC:PMC10125792 | DOI:10.3346/jkms.2023.38.e124

Causes of death of patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation in Asians
ConclusionDeath due to ischemic stroke was responsible for only 4.7% of all deaths in Asian AF patients. Non-CV death, such as infection/sepsis or malignancy, was more far more prevalent than CV death in Asian AF patients. An improved integrated care approach is needed to reduce the prevalence of non-CV death in Asian AF patients.

A fast computational model for circulatory dynamics: effects of left ventricle-aorta coupling
Biomech Model Mechanobiol. 2023 Jan 13. doi: 10.1007/s10237-023-01690-w. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThe course of diseases such as hypertension, systolic heart failure and heart failure with a preserved ejection fraction is affected by interactions between the left ventricle (LV) and the vasculature. To study these interactions, a computationally efficient, biophysically based mathematical model for the circulatory system is presented. In a four-chamber model of the heart, the LV is represented by a previously described low-order, wall volume-preserving model that includes torsion and base-to-apex and circumferential wa...

Prognostic impact of catheter ablation in patients with asymptomatic atrial fibrillation
ConclusionsIn the post-hoc analysis of the matched AF cohort, catheter ablation as compared with conservative management was associated with better long-term clinical outcomes among asymptomatic AF patients only when the previous AF-related complications were present.

RNA modifications in aging-associated cardiovascular diseases
Aging (Albany NY). 2022 Sep 29;14(undefined). doi: 10.18632/aging.204311. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide that bears an enormous healthcare burden and aging is a major contributing factor to CVDs. Functional gene expression network during aging is regulated by mRNAs transcriptionally and by non-coding RNAs epi-transcriptionally. RNA modifications alter the stability and function of both mRNAs and non-coding RNAs and are involved in differentiation, development, and diseases. Here we review major chemical RNA modifications on mRNAs and non-co...
