Early statin use and cardiovascular outcomes after myocardial infarction: A population-based case-control study
CONCLUSIONS: Lack of statin therapy early after MI is associated with adverse outcomes across the spectrum of MI patients. Results underline the importance of timely statin use after MI.PMID:35803064 | DOI:10.1016/j.atherosclerosis.2022.06.1019

Effect of omega-3 fatty acids on cardiovascular events in high-risk patients with hypertriglyceridemia in Japan: a 3-year post-marketing surveillance study (OCEAN3 survey)
CONCLUSIONS: Among patients receiving statins, cardiovascular event incidence did not differ significantly between O3AEE-treated patients and non-O3AEE-treated patients. Further studies are required before definitive conclusions can be drawn on the effect of O3AEE on cardiovascular event incidence in high-risk patients with hypertriglyceridemia.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT02285166.PMID:35772177 | DOI:10.1080/14740338.2022.2094914

Higher mortality in acute coronary syndrome patients without standard modifiable risk factors: Results from a global meta-analysis of 1,285,722 patients
CONCLUSION: In this study level meta-analysis, SMuRF-less ACS patients demonstrate higher mortality compared with patients with at least one traditional atherosclerotic risk factor. Underuse of guideline-directed medical therapy amongst SMuRF-less patients is concerning. Unraveling novel risk factors amongst SMuRF-less individuals is the next important step.SUMMARY: Standard modifiable cardiovascular risk factors (SMuRF), comprising diabetes mellitus, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, and smoking, are often used for risk stratification in acute coronary syndrome (ACS). Recent studies showed an increasing proportion of SMuRF-le...

Prognostic Implication of Small Dense LDL-Cholesterol Levels following Acute Coronary Syndrome
Conclusions: Small dense LDL-cholesterol level was a significant risk factor for cardiovascular events following presentations of acute coronary syndrome.PMID:36676782 | DOI:10.3390/medicina59010158

Pitavastatin Compared with Differential Intervention Trial by Standard Therapy on Cardiovascular Events in Patients with Dyslipidemia on Chronic Hemodialysis (DIALYSIS): A Randomized Controlled Trial
Conclusion: Our study has demonstrated that aggressive intervention with pitavastatin is more effective than the standard (dietary) therapy for improving the clinical outcomes in patients with dyslipidemia on chronic hemodialysis.Blood Purif
