I just got back from the North Dakota Mission: Lifeline STEMI and Acute Stroke Conference in Bismark, ND. I had a great time and I learned a lot. I often get asked to speak in various venues about acute STEMI and 12-lead ECG interpretation, but for this conference they wanted me to talk mostly about stroke. African American Stroke Survivors: More Caregiving Time, but Less Caregiving Burden Original Article
Conclusions— Black stroke survivors received an average of 11 more hours of care than white stroke survivors without substantial differences in unmet need. Despite providing more hours of care, caregivers of black stroke were more positive about their caregiver role than caregivers of white stroke survivors.

Implications of stroke for caregiver outcomes: findings from the ASPIRE‐S study
ConclusionFindings indicate that caregiver and stroke survivor well‐being are interdependent. Thus, early interventions, including increased training and support programs that include caregivers, are likely to reduce the risk of negative emotional outcomes.
