Antithrombotic strategy variability in atrial fibrillation and obstructive coronary disease revascularised with percutaneous coronary intervention: primary results from the AVIATOR 2 international registry
CONCLUSIONS: The AVIATOR 2 study is the first digital health study examining physician-patient perspectives on ATT choices after AF-PCI. TT was the most common strategy without differences in 1-year outcomes in ATT strategy. Physicians rated safety first when prescribing ATT; patients feared stroke over bleeding.CLINICALTRIALS: gov: NCT02362659.PMID:35656720 | DOI:10.4244/EIJ-D-21-01044

The management of patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation: In‐hospital‐data from the Atrial Fibrillation undergoing Coronary Artery Stenting (AFCAS) study
ConclusionsThe majority of AF patients undergoing PCI‐S are at high stroke risk, and therefore VKA treatment should not be withdrawn and combined anticoagulant and antiplatelet treatment is warranted. Current management appears largely in accordance with current recommendations, whereby accounting for the limited occurrence of in‐hospital adverse ischemic and bleeding events. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

The management of patients with atrial fibrillation undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with stent implantation
Current recommendations on the management of patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention with stent (PCI‐S) essentially derive from small, single‐center, retrospective datasets. To obtain larger and better quality data, we carried out the prospective, multicenter Atrial Fibrillation undergoing Coronary Artery Stenting (AFCAS) study. Therefore, consecutive patients with history of or ongoing AF undergoing PCI‐S were enrolled, and occurrence of adverse ischemic and bleeding events recorded during 12 months follow‐up. In this article, we report the in‐hospital observations. O...

Ticagrelor with and without aspirin in patients with a prior coronary artery bypass graft undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention: the TWILIGHT-CABG study
CONCLUSIONS: In high-risk patients with prior CABG, ticagrelor monotherapy reduced bleeding without compromising ischaemic outcomes compared with ticagrelor plus aspirin.PMID:35979636 | DOI:10.4244/EIJ-D-22-00319

Comparative effectiveness of drug‐eluting stents on long‐term outcomes in elderly patients treated for in‐stent restenosis: A report from the national cardiovascular data registry
Conclusions: There was lower mortality and reduced risk for MI, revascularization, and stroke, but a similar rate of bleeding with DES compared to other modalities. Our results indicate that DES use is a comparatively effective strategy to treat elderly patients with ISR. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Impact of in‐hospital bleeding according to the bleeding academic research consortium classification on the long‐term adverse outcomes in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention
Conclusions: In‐hospital bleeding events according to the newly proposed BARC definition were significantly associated with an increased risk of adverse long‐term events in patients undergoing PCI with drug‐eluting stents. © 2013 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.

Eptifibatide infusion versus placebo in high risk patients with non-st segment elevation acute coronary syndromes managed with urgent coronary artery bypass graft surgery. a prospective multicenter randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial.
CONCLUSION: Preoperative use of eptifibatide vs. placebo is linked to significantly reduced 12--month MACCE rate in patients with NSTE--ACS requiring urgent CABG, while it simultaneously seems not to confer a greater risk of postoperative bleeding. PMID: 25394877 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Obesity is associated with worse long-term outcomes in hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients with acute myocardial infarction.
CONCLUSION: Acute myocardial infarction and hypertrophic cardiomyopathy patients who were obese exhibited worse long-term outcomes than those without obesity. PMID: 31674878 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Cardiovascular mortality and morbidity in patients undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention after out-of-hospital cardiac arrest: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
CONCLUSIONS: Almost one third of OHCA patients undergoing PCI die and more than one third of the fatalities are attributable to cardiovascular causes. The burden of ischemic and bleeding complications was consistently higher and the success rates of PCI lower among OHCA as compared to non-OHCA patients. Impact of advanced age on the safety and effectiveness of paclitaxel‐eluting stent implantation in patients with ST‐segment elevation myocardial infarction undergoing primary angioplasty: The HORIZONS‐AMI trial
Conclusions: For STEMI patients undergoing primary PCI, the implantation of PES as compared with BMS reduced ischemic TVR, and this effect was independent of age. [NCT00433966] © 2013 Wiley‐Liss, Inc.
