School-based supplementation with iron-folic acid or multiple micronutrient tablets to address anemia among adolescents in Burkina Faso: a cluster-randomized trial
CONCLUSIONS: Results do not provide strong evidence that weekly IFA or daily MMS supplementation alone is effective, but supplementation may play a role in addressing adolescent anemia if combined with co-interventions. Additional research is required to determine the best strategy to address anemia.CLINICAL TRIAL REGISTRY: ClinicalTrials.gov, NCT04657640 TRIAL REGISTRATION: Clinicaltrials.gov Identifier: NCT04657640, registered December 8, 2020.PMID:37716443 | DOI:10.1016/j.ajcnut.2023.09.004

Fight Aging! Newsletter, June 12th 2023
In this study, we investigated the effect of NXP032 on neurovascular stabilization through the changes of PECAM-1, PDGFR-β, ZO-1, laminin, and glial cells involved in maintaining the integrity of the blood-brain barrier (BBB) in aged mice. NXP032 was orally administered daily for 8 weeks. Compared to young mice and NXP032-treated mice, 20-month-old mice displayed cognitive impairments in Y-maze and passive avoidance tests. NXP032 treatment contributed to reducing the BBB damage by attenuating the fragmentation of microvessels and reducing PDGFR-β, ZO-1, and laminin expression, thereby mitigating astrocytes and microglia ...

Nimotuzumab Concurrent with Gemcitabine as First-Line Treatment of Locally Advanced or Metastatic Pancreatic Adenocarcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: Nimotuzumab combined with gemcitabine represents a safe and effective first-line treatment option for patients with advanced pancreatic adenocarcinoma in real-world conditions. Survival benefits were increased in those patients who received 8 or more doses of nimotuzumab. This trial is registered with RPCEC00000245 in the Cuban Registry of Clinical Trials, part of the World Health Organization's International Clinical Trials Registry Platform (ICTRP).PMID:37152586 | PMC:PMC10162878 | DOI:10.1155/2023/1496072

Safety Profile of Eltrombopag in Different Age Groups: An Analysis of Real-World Pharmacovigilance and Randomized Clinical Trials
This study aimed to explore the clinical features of adverse drug events (ADEs) associated with eltrombopag in different age groups using ICSRs from the World Health Organization database VigiBase and the US Food and Drug Administration Adverse Event Reporting System database from 2008 to 2022 in combination with a meta-analysis of data from randomized clinical trials in the literature from inception to July 28, 2022. We conducted disproportionality analyses by grouping patients into the following age groups: 0-17 (0-23 months,2-11 years, 12-17 years), 18-64, and ≥65 years. The ADEs about hepatobiliary disorders, throm...
