Solitary chemosensory cells are innervated by trigeminal nerve endings and autoregulated by cholinergic receptors
ConclusionSCCs are innervated by trigeminal nerve endings in healthy turbinate tissue but not in NPs. SCCs express ACh receptors as well as choline acetyltransferase and, in the setting of a type 2 inflammatory environment, denervated SCCs dramatically expand with nicotinic stimulation.

Randomized controlled trial of steroid ‐soaked absorbable calcium alginate nasal packing following endoscopic sinus surgery
ConclusionsThis study demonstrated that steroid‐soaked, absorbable nasal packing can be used to enhance wound healing after endoscopic sinus surgery and to prevent polypoid changes in the nasal mucosa. Level of Evidence1b. Laryngoscope, 2017

Evaluation of vitamin D levels in allergic fungal sinusitis, chronic rhinosinusitis, and chronic rhinosinusitis with polyposis
ConclusionSerum level of VD3 in patient with CRSwNP and AFRS is significantly lower than that of patients with CRSsNP and control subjects. Although these results do not imply a specific etiological or therapeutic relationship, VD3 levels may constitute an inexpensive prophylactic and cost‐effective option in the therapeutic armamentarium in the control of AFRS and CRSwNP, either by itself or as a synergistic agent with traditional agents.

TMEM16A-Mediated Mucin Secretion in IL-13-Induced Nasal Epithelial Cells From Chronic Rhinosinusitis Patients.
CONCLUSIONS: The expression of TMEM16A and MUC5AC are increased in CRSwNP, which might be a direct effect of Th2 cytokines present in the sinonasal mucosa in CRSwNP. Down-regulation of TMEM16A expression and MUC5AC secretion in HNPECs by T16Ainh-A01 indicates that TMEM16A might play an important role in mucin secretion in upper airway inflammatory diseases. Verapamil modulates interleukin‐5 and interleukin‐6 secretion in organotypic human sinonasal polyp explants
ConclusionAlthough the mechanism has yet to be fully understood, L‐type CCBs are capable of reducing inflammation in multiple tissues. Verapamil was specifically found to reduce airway goblet cell hyperplasia and eosinophilic infiltration in a murine asthma model. Our data support these findings suggesting that verapamil can modulate T‐helper cell type 2 (Th2)‐associated cytokine secretion in sinonasal polyp explants. This data points to a possible therapeutic role for CCBs in the management of CRSwNP.
