Zyflamend, a polyherbal mixture, down regulates class I and class II histone deacetylases and increases p21 levels in castrate-resistant prostate cancer cells
Conclusions: Our results suggest that the extracts of this polyherbal combination increase histone 3 acetylation, inhibit the expression of class I and class II histone deacetylases, increase the activation of CBP/p300 and inhibit cell proliferation, in part, by up regulating p21 expression.

Abstract 1255: The Mediterranean herb rosemary modulates ER stress proteins to promote androgen receptor degradation in prostate cancer cells
Conclusion: Rosemary induces ER stress-mediated apoptotic cell death in prostate cancer cell lines, 22Rv1and LNCaP cells, leading to disruption of AR expression. Our data suggests that this Mediterranean dietary phytochemical possess strong anticancer activity and should be evaluated further as potential chemopreventive and/or chemotherapeutic agent for controlling prostate cancer. Abstract 4110: Gartanin from the mangosteen fruit modulates androgen receptor and ER stress proteins in prostate cancer cells leading to apoptosis
Conclusions: Our study demonstrated that gartanin inhibited proliferation and induced apoptosis on prostate cancer cells in vitro. It achieves its anticancer effects partly through inhibiting AR and promoting ER stress. The ability of gartanin to inhibit prostate cancer cells suggests further research is needed to evaluate gartanin as a novel agent for the management of prostate cancer. Zyflamend, a polyherbal mixture, inhibits lipogenesis and mTORC1 signalling via activation of AMPK
The objective in this study was to determine if the antiproliferative effects are mediated, in part, through the activation of AMPK signalling and inhibition of its downstream targets, lipogenesis and mTORC1 complex. By increasing the phosphorylation of AMPK in CWR22Rv1 and PC3 prostate cancer cell lines, Zyflamend decreased de novo lipid biosynthesis by decreasing the activity of acetyl-CoA carboxylase and the expressions of fatty acid synthase and SREBP-1c, with a concomitant up regulation of fatty acid oxidation.
