Clinical Significance of Radical Prostatectomy in Clinical Lymph Node Metastasis in Prostate Cancer
CONCLUSION: Radical prostatectomy can confirm lymph node metastasis. Although pathologic diagnosis has no effect on time to BCR and CPRC, because it affects BCR rate, CRPC rate, and CSS, an accurate pathological diagnosis obtained through surgery is beneficial in the treatment of clinical lymph node metastasis prostate cancer.PMID:37689608 | DOI:10.1245/s10434-023-14137-4

Testosterone and peripheral arterial disease
Curr Vasc Pharmacol. 2023 Aug 9. doi: 10.2174/1570161121666230809143023. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTTestosterone levels in men begin declining in the early years of adulthood, with a 1-2% reduction/year. Low testosterone levels in men are associated with obesity, metabolic syndrome, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidaemia, hypertension and increased cardiovascular mortality. However, observational studies of testosterone levels in males and their relationship with peripheral arterial disease (PAD) have yielded mixed results; only some cohorts show a clear association with low free testosterone levels. This discrepancy may, in ...

Determining the association of rurality and cardiovascular disease among prostate cancer survivors
CONCLUSIONS: This study revealed complex relationships between rural-urban status, cardiovascular disease, and prostate cancer. Rural survivors were less likely to be diagnosed with screen-detected cardiovascular disease but more likely to have heart failure. Further, the relationship between cardiovascular disease and survival was different between rural and urban survivors. It may be that our findings underscore differences in healthcare access where rural patients are less likely to be screened for preventable cardiovascular disease and have worse outcomes when they have a major cardiovascular event.PMID:37455231 | DOI:...

Platelet count and dose, but not comorbidities, predict severe neutropenia in cabazitaxel-treated prostate cancer patients: A  retrospective observational study
CONCLUSION: Comorbidities such as hypertension, dyslipidemia, diabetes mellitus, cerebrovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, liver dysfunction, and cardiac disease did not affect the incidence of severe neutropenia in patients receiving cabazitaxel. The baseline platelet count and the dose of cabazitaxel were also suggested to be markers for the development of severe neutropenia.PMID:37439521 | DOI:10.5414/CP204393
