Efficacy and safety of adalimumab in Chinese adults with active ankylosing spondylitis: results of a randomised, controlled trial
Conclusions Adalimumab significantly reduced the signs and symptoms, improved physical function and quality of life of Chinese patients with active AS, and was generally safe and well tolerated in this population.

An intravascular large B-cell lymphoma with a t(3;14)(q27;q32) translocation
A 61-year-old man with no symptom was found with bilateral adrenal nodules on CT scan during a routine physical check-up. The left nodule was removed by adrenalectomy, and the patient was diagnosed with intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) on pathological and immunohistochemical examinations. Using a set of dual-colour, break-apart probes and fluorescence in situ hybridisation, it was revealed that the lymphoma cells have tetraploid karyotype, with a breakpoint in BCL6 gene, which was further confirmed as a t(3;14)(q27;q32) translocation. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report of IVLBCL with such a translocation.

Epstein-Barr virus is rarely associated with diffuse large B cell lymphoma in Taiwan and carries a trend for a shorter median survival time
Conclusions EBV-positive DLBCL of the elderly is relatively rare in Taiwan, with an incidence intermediate between Japan/Korea and the West. Further studies are warranted to clarify the association of EBV and the clinicopathological features and the prognostic significance in patients with DLBCL.

Bone marrow trephine biopsy involvement by lymphoma: review of histopathological features in 511 specimens and correlation with diagnostic biopsy, aspirate and peripheral blood findings
Conclusions Different lymphomas often demonstrate reliably characteristic architectural patterns of marrow involvement which can help differentiate them even when cytological features do not permit this, and marrow stromal and other background changes may also be useful pointers towards a particular lymphoma subtype.

Chromogenic in situ hybridisation (CISH) is a powerful method to detect ALK-positive non-small cell lung carcinomas
Conclusions CISH is a very reliable, convenient and inexpensive method to detect ALK-positive NSCLC. CISH success rate is comparably high as with qPCR, and it detects all ALK break apart events in a single assay. It is of special value when RNA quality is poor, or when small biopsies with a very limited amount of tumour cells have to be analysed.

Conclusions Visual 6-dimensional identification of aberrant T cell clusters by FC allows for the calculation of clinically significant SCCs. Simplified gating strategies and relative quantitative values might underestimate the immunophenotypical complexity of Sezary cells.

Primary Sjogren's syndrome and malignancy risk: a systematic review and meta-analysis
Conclusions This meta-analysis indicates that pSS is significantly associated with increased risks of overall malignancy, NHL and thyroid cancer. However, it is not yet known whether the apparent increased risk of overall malignancy in patients with pSS is due to the relatively high prevalence of NHL in that group.

Patterns of ALK expression in different human cancer types
Conclusions Different levels of ALK expression can be found in various cancer types using sensitive methods like real-time PCR. However, such low-level expression is independent from oncogenic ALK fusions and cannot be detected with less-sensitive methods like IHC. ALK fusion is a rare event in human solid cancers.
