Scales of Magt1 Gene: Novel Mutations, Different Presentations
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2022 Feb 6;21(1):92-97. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v21i1.8622.ABSTRACTLoss-of-function mutations in magnesium transporter 1 (MAGT1) gene cause X-linked magnesium deficiency with Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection and neoplasm (X-MEN), a disease with quite diverse clinical and immunological consequences. The phenotypic characteristics of the initially described patients included CD4+ T cell lymphopenia, immune deficiency, EBV viremia, and EBV-related lymphoproliferative disease. To date, a total of 25 patients have been reported. The spectrum of the MAGT1 defect ranges from other viral infections (HS...

Relationship between low serum IgE levels and malignancies in 9/11 World Trade Center responders
CONCLUSION: WTC-responders with low serum IgE levels had the highest odds of developing hematologic malignancies. This hypothesis-generating study suggests that low serum IgE levels might be associated with the development of specific malignancies in at-risk individuals exposed to carcinogens. Larger, multicenter studies with adequate follow up of individuals with different IgE levels are needed to better evaluate this relationship.PMID:35872243 | DOI:10.1016/j.anai.2022.07.012

Elevated Interleukin-10 Levels Are Associated with Low Platelet Count and Poor Prognosis in 90 Adult Patients with Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis
Conclusion: Infection and lymphoma are the leading causes of HLH in adult patients with heterogeneous clinical manifestations. Survival of adult HLH is frustrating, especially those associated with malignancies. Besides, elevated IL-10 levels were associated with lower platelet counts, and these two markers were independent risk factors for poor prognosis. Earlier treatment led to better outcomes.Int Arch Allergy Immunol

New Presentation of CD27 Deficiency; Coronary Ectasia and COVID-19
Iran J Allergy Asthma Immunol. 2023 Feb 20;22(1):110-118. doi: 10.18502/ijaai.v22i1.12013.ABSTRACTCD27 is a costimulatory receptor involved in the maturation of the innate and adaptive immunity. CD27, through interaction with CD70, plays a role in the control of Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) infection. CD27 deficiency leads to an immune dysregulation disease characterized by EBV susceptibility. Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) might put patients with primary immunodeficiency at risk for adverse outcomes. Chromogenic in situ hybridization (CISH) study was performed to detect EBV in the lymphoma tissue...
