Chapter 3: Management of kidney injury caused by cancer drug therapy, from clinical practice guidelines for the management of kidney injury during anticancer drug therapy 2022
Int J Clin Oncol. 2023 Jul 16. doi: 10.1007/s10147-023-02382-2. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTCisplatin should be administered with diuretics and Magnesium supplementation under adequate hydration to avoid renal impairment. Patients should be evaluated for eGFR (estimated glomerular filtration rate) during the treatment with pemetrexed, as kidney injury has been reported. Pemetrexed should be administered with caution in patients with a CCr (creatinine clearance) < 45 mL/min. Mesna is used to prevent hemorrhagic cystitis in patients receiving ifosfamide. Febuxostat is effective in avoiding hyperuricemia induced by TLS (...

Comparative Proteomics Analysis of Exosomes Identifies Key Pathways and Protein Markers Related to Breast Cancer Metastasis
Int J Mol Sci. 2023 Feb 17;24(4):4033. doi: 10.3390/ijms24044033.ABSTRACTProteomics analysis of circulating exosomes derived from cancer cells represents a promising approach to the elucidation of cell-cell communication and the discovery of putative biomarker candidates for cancer diagnosis and treatment. Nonetheless, the proteome of exosomes derived from cell lines with different metastatic capabilities still warrants further investigation. Here, we present a comprehensive quantitative proteomics investigation of exosomes isolated from immortalized mammary epithelial cells and matched tumor lines with different metastati...

Metal exposure and breast cancer among Northern Mexican women: assessment of genetic susceptibility
This study aims to assess breast cancer (BC) association with metals and whether polymorphisms in CYP1A1, CYP1B1, GSTM1 and GSTT1 act as confounders or as modifiers of those relationships. We performed a secondary analysis of 499 histologically confirmed BC cases and the same number of age-matched population controls. We measured urinary concentrations of 18 metals with mass spectrometry. We determined the genetic variants of interest by allelic discrimination and multiplex PCR. After adjusting for covariates, we found BC negatively associated with arsenic, barium, cobalt, copper, magnesium, molybdenum and vanadium concent...

Transcription factor KLF16 activates MAGT1 to regulate the tumorigenesis and progression of breast cancer
Int J Mol Med. 2022 Sep;50(3):115. doi: 10.3892/ijmm.2022.5171. Epub 2022 Jul 7.ABSTRACTBreast cancer is the most frequent cause of cancer‑related mortality among women worldwide. The present study aimed to explore the role of magnesium transporter protein 1 (MAGT1) in breast cancer and to illustrate the potential underlying molecular mechanisms. Bioinformatic analysis was performed to explore the association between MAGT1 expression and patients with breast cancer. MTT, colony formation, wound healing and Transwell assays were performed to examine the proliferative, migratory and invasive abilities of MCF‑7 cells. Wes...
