Factors driving the use of warfarin and non-vitamin K antagonist oral anticoagulants in patients with atrial fibrillation
Conclusion Stroke history was associated with anticoagulant use, whereas comorbidities associated with increased risk of bleeding showed the opposite result. Patients with hepatic disease were less likely to use NOACs.

Changing practice of anticoagulation: will target-specific anticoagulants replace warfarin?
Abstract The target-specific oral anticoagulants are a class of agents that inhibit factor Xa or thrombin. They are effective and safe compared to warfarin for the prevention of stroke and systemic embolism in patients with atrial fibrillation and for the treatment of venous thromboembolism, and they are comparable to low-molecular-weight heparin for thromboprophylaxis after hip or knee arthroplasty. Specific risk factors for atrial fibrillation occurrence include type of cancer disease and anticancer drugs. Anticoagulation is often abandoned. The CHA2DS2-VASc and CHA2DS2 scores may be important not only in predicting stroke but also in mortality.
