The potential of gut microbiome as a non-invasive predictive biomarker for early detection of pancreatic cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: To conclude, the field regarding the link between gut microbiome as a non-invasive biomarkers and early detection of pancreatic cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma exists, however, it is not well-investigated. Additionally, many of the studies were conducted with small sample sizes, whereas biomarkers are ethnicity-dependent and should be validated in wide range of populations. Nevertheless, these aspects are promising and open up new diagnostic options.PMID:34919227 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202112_27421

Expression of p16 < sup > INK4a < /sup > in oropharyngeal squamous cell carcinoma from a tertiary cancer centre of South India: A preliminary study
CONCLUSIONS: The p16 positive OPSCC cases constituted a small proportion in the present study and behaved similar to p16 negative cases. Usage of tobacco and alcohol appear to be the susceptible factors even in p16 positive cases. More studies from other States would be helpful to determine if HPV-related SCC in the Indian subcontinent behave differently or similarly to cases from Western countries.PMID:35345076 | DOI:10.4103/ijmr.IJMR_386_19

The relationship between NTCP gene varieties and the progress of liver disease after HBV infection: an updated systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: Rs2296651 polymorphism (A allele) may protect HBV infection and the progress of HBV-related disease (HBV-related HCC). And future researches about other single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (rs4646287, rs7154439, rs4646295, rs4646296) of NTCP may be needed to clarify the relationship of NTCP gene variety with HBV infection and HBV-related disease.PMID:35398032 | DOI:10.1016/j.amjms.2022.03.014

Role of Trans-Arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma
CONCLUSIONS: TACE is a low-cost palliative treatment for HCC. The initial tumor size is an independent predictor of survival.PMID:36196724 | DOI:10.26355/eurrev_202209_29776
