Uterin adenosarcoma: French Guidelines of the French Sarcoma Group and the Rare Gynecologic Tumor Group
Bull Cancer. 2023 May 15:S0007-4551(23)00212-6. doi: 10.1016/j.bulcan.2023.04.017. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTUterine adenosarcoma is a very rare malignancy defined as a biphasic tumor composed of both benign epithelial component and a malignant sarcoma component. The stage of the disease is determined by the presence of myometrial invasion and the extent of extra-uterine disease. The most important histopronostic factors are the existence of a sarcomatous overgrowth defined by a sarcomatous contingent occupying more than 25 % of the volume of the tumor (directly correlated to the grade of the disease), the presence of ...

Prognostic impact of cytoreductive surgery conducted with primary intent, versus cytoreductive surgery after neoadjuvant chemotherapy, in the management of patients with advanced epithelial ovarian cancers: a multicentre, propensity score-matched study from the FRANCOGYN group
CONCLUSIONS: Analysis of groups of patients made comparable by propensity score matching showed no difference in survival, but lower postoperative morbidity in patients treated with iCRS.PMID:37165717 | DOI:10.1111/1471-0528.17524

Rare cancers of the head and neck on behalf of the REFCOR, part 1
This article (part 1) discusses the diagnostic and therapeutic specificities of these rare cancers, and develops the recommendations of the French ENT Cancer Expertise Network (REFCOR) concerning rare epithelial tumors, i.e., salivary tumors, sinonasal tumors, variants of conventional squamous cell carcinomas, neuroendocrine carcinomas, malignant odontogenic tumors, and ear tumors. A second article (part 2) is focused on non-epithelial tumors (sarcomas, mucosal melanomas, lymphomas, tumors of uncertain or undetermined malignancy) and describes the organization and missions of the REFCOR.PMID:37169603 | DOI:10.1016/j.bulcan.2023.04.008

These so-called rare cancers are distinguished by their presentation and patterns of failure, which is important to recognize in order to offer specific adapted management and maximize the chances of tumor control. These cancers can be rare by their histology as well as their anatomical location when arising from the paranasal sinuses, salivary glands and ear. The m...

Homologous recombination deficiency in epithelial ovarian cancers: from molecular characterization to patient journey
Bull Cancer. 2023 Feb 28:S0007-4551(23)00077-2. doi: 10.1016/j.bulcan.2023.02.004. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTHigh-grade serous ovarian carcinoma (HGSOC), the most frequent and aggressive form of epithelial ovarian cancer is characterized in half of cases by homologous recombination deficiency (HRD). This molecular alteration is defined by distinct causes and consequences. The main and most characterized cause is the presence of an alteration affecting BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes. Regarding consequences, a specific genomic instability leads to increased sensitivity to platinum salts and poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARPi) in...
