< em > Bifidobacterium infantis < /em > -Mediated Herpes Simplex Virus-TK/Ganciclovir Treatment Inhibits Cancer Metastasis in Mouse Model
Int J Mol Sci. 2023 Jul 21;24(14):11721. doi: 10.3390/ijms241411721.ABSTRACTPrevious studies have found that Bifidobacterium infantis-mediated herpes simplex virus-TK/ganciclovir (BF-TK/GCV) reduces the expression of VEGF and CD146, implying tumor metastasis inhibition. However, the mechanism by which BF-TK/GCV inhibits tumor metastasis is not fully studied. Here, we comprehensively identified and quantified protein expression profiling for the first time in gastric cancer (GC) cells MKN-45 upon BF-TK/GCV treatment using quantitative proteomics. A total of 159 and 72 differential expression proteins (DEPs) were significant...

The genus Scorzonera L. (Asteraceae): A comprehensive review on traditional uses, phytochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, chemotaxonomy, and other applications
CONCLUSION: This review provides information on traditional usage, phytochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology, chemotaxonomy, other applications aspects, and future prospects of the genus Scorzonera. However, only around one third of Scorzonera species have been studied so far. This review may be used as the basis for future endeavors, including further biological and chemical investigations, and efforts of seeking more applications.PMID:37390877 | DOI:10.1016/j.jep.2023.116787

αβ and γδ T-cell responses to Epstein-Barr Virus: insights in immunocompetence, immune failure and therapeutic augmentation in transplant patients
Curr Opin Immunol. 2023 Mar 22;82:102305. doi: 10.1016/j.coi.2023.102305. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTEpstein-Barr Virus (EBV) is a human gamma herpes virus, which causes several diseases in immunocompetent (mononucleosis, chronic fatigue syndrome, gastric cancer, endemic Burkitt's lymphoma, head and neck cancer) and immunosuppressed (post-transplant lymphoproliferative disease, EBV-associated soft tissue tumors) patients. It elicits a complex humoral and cellular immune response with both innate and adaptive immune components. Substantial progress has been made in understanding the interplay of immune cells in EBV-assoc...

HSV: The scout and assault for digestive system tumors
Front Mol Biosci. 2023 Feb 28;10:1142498. doi: 10.3389/fmolb.2023.1142498. eCollection 2023.ABSTRACTMore than 25% of all malignant tumors are digestive system tumors (DSTs), which mostly include esophageal cancer, gastric cancer, pancreatic cancer, liver cancer, gallbladder cancer and cholangiocarcinoma, and colorectal cancer. DSTs have emerged as one of the prominent reasons of morbidity and death in many nations and areas around the world, posing a serious threat to human life and health. General treatments such as radiotherapy, chemotherapy, and surgical resection can poorly cure the patients and have a bad prognosis. A...

Acute cervicitis resembling gastric-type mucinous adenocarcinoma that was definitively diagnosed by cervical conization: A case report
We present a case of cervicitis in which clinical, imaging and pathological features overlapped with those of gastric-type mucinous adenocarcinoma (GAS). The patient, a 30-year-old woman, was referred to a gynecologist with a complaint of watery vaginal discharge. On visual examination, the uterine cervix was irregularly enlarged and bled easily, suggesting cervical cancer. The next day, the patient had a fever of 39°C and blisters appeared on her vulva due to herpes simplex virus type II infection. MRI showed a diffusely enlarged cervix with poorly marginated high signal intensity on T2-weighted imaging (WI) and apparent...
