Cardiac Tamponade Secondary to Hemorrhagic Pericardial Effusion: A Complication of STEMI
Conclusion: The differential for hemodynamic compromise in a patient with STEMI is broad, but quickly distinguishing pump failure from other life-threatening causes of shock is imperative to dictate time-sensitive management decisions. The presence of a hemorrhagic pericardial effusion in the setting of STEMI is a surrogate marker for a severe infarct and can help the bedside physician determine whether a patient will be better served in the catheterization lab for revascularization or in the operating room for surgical repair.PMID:37711482 | PMC:PMC10498953 | DOI:10.31486/toj.23.0023

Abdominal Imaging Findings in Laboratory-Confirmed COVID-19 Patients: A Retrospective Observational Study
CONCLUSION: To our knowledge, the research conducted on the abdominal manifestations of COVID-19 is still limited, especially in our region. Our study showed that there are variable presentations of abdominal organ involvement in COVID-19 cases, and as such more data is required to direct choice of imaging study, protocol, and interpretation of findings to better guide patient management.PMID:37649952 | PMC:PMC10463944 | DOI:10.7759/cureus.42677

Self-Reported Outcomes in Early Postoperative Management After Shoulder Surgery Using a Home-Based Strengthening and Stabilization System With Telehealth
CONCLUSION: Postoperative management of shoulder surgery with SSS combined with telehealth results in a reduction in patient pain levels in the early postoperative period. Patients reported high levels of improvement with SSS in shoulder rehabilitation, pain, and stiffness. The overwhelming majority (93%) of patients recommended SSS for postoperative shoulder rehabilitation and SSS yielded high patient satisfaction scores. Elucidating the impact of SSS on clinical outcomes and function in comparison with traditional rehabilitation protocols is warranted.CLINICAL RELEVANCE: SSS in combination with telehealth was tolerated w...

Physical activity and health anxiety in people with and without spinal pain during the COVID-19 lockdown: A comparison study
CONCLUSION: People experiencing spinal pain during the COVID-19 lockdown were physically less active and more concerned about their health. These results may be useful to improve the management of spinal pain during the lockdown or possible pandemic wave scenarios.PMID:35848816 | DOI:10.14744/agri.2021.90692

Attitude changes toward chronic pain management of pain physicians in Turkey during the COVID-19 pandemic
CONCLUSION: It was found that the majority of physicians did not change their preferences in the dose and/or type of opioid and corticosteroid drugs, but they tended to reduce the number of diagnostic blocks they applied before facet joint medial branch/genicular RFD procedures.PMID:35848806 | DOI:10.14744/agri.2019.01878
