Logan Airport Not Currently Screening Passengers For Coronavirus
BOSTON (CBS/CNN) – A new Chinese coronavirus, a cousin of the SARS virus, has infected more than 200 people since the outbreak began in Wuhan, China, in December. Boston’s Logan Airport is not currently screening passengers for the illness, a spokesman for Customs and Border Protection told WBZ-TV. That’s because there are no direct flights to Boston from that region. Additional health screening for coronavirus is in place at JFK Airport in New York, San Francisco International Airport and Los Angeles International Airport. The agency said the CDC has determined that coronavirus presents a low risk to the American pu...

Coronavirus Anxiety: Social Distancing Helps Stop the Spread
A lot of people are understandably anxious and upset about the looming spread of the novel coronavirus — called COVID-19 — in the United States. When faced with the unknown, with a scarcity of data, and disagreement among scientists about the likely infection rates within the US, anxiety appears to be an entirely appropriate emotion to have. But we can all help to stop the spread of the coronavirus, even if we’re not at particularly big risk for getting it or getting sick from it. It’s called “social distancing,” and it can help a great deal in keeping our national outbreak as low as pos...

Coronavirus Concerns: Reports Of Strokes In Young People, CDC Adds New Symptoms
BOSTON (CBS) — There have been concerning reports of the coronavirus causing strokes in young people. Doctors at Mount Sinai in New York described five people under the age of 50 with little to no symptoms of COVID-19 who suffered severe strokes and tested positive for the virus. Other hospitals have reported similar cases. While the number of young people having strokes is low, it adds to the growing evidence that the coronavirus can trigger the formation of blood clots in the body, in the lungs as well as in the brain. If you develop sudden stroke symptoms, like facial droop, weakness in a limb, or slurring your sp...

‘ Genuine Evidence Of Improvement ’ : Remdesivir Helped Some Coronavirus Patients In Study
(CNN) — A five-day course of the antiviral drug remdesivir sped recovery in moderately ill patients with pneumonia from Covid-19, drugmaker Gilead Sciences announced in a statement Monday. It’s more evidence that the drug can help patients, however outside experts are not calling this a “game changer” quite yet. Coronavirus patients who were hospitalized, but not sick enough to need oxygen from a ventilator, were more likely to recover after a five-day course of remdesivir than those given the current standard of care alone, Gilead said. The results from the Phase III clinical trial on the drug have...
