Gastrointestinal AA Amyloidosis following Recurrent SARS-CoV-2 Infection: A Case Report
In this report, we describe a case of gastrointestinal (GI) AA amyloidosis following SARS-CoV-2 infection. A 75-year-old male presented to the emergency department with upper abdominal pain 6 weeks post kidney transplantation. He had a history of SARS-CoV-2 infection 4 weeks prior. On day 7 of hospitalization, while receiving conservative management, the patient developed symptoms of cough and fever, leading to a diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2 reinfection. The patient's abdominal pain persisted, and hematochezia developed on day 30 of hospitalization. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy and colonoscopy revealed multiple ulcers in the stom...

Viruses, Vol. 15, Pages 1520: Impact of B Cell Depletion on COVID-19 in Kidney Transplant Recipients
akashi Kenmochi Kidney transplant recipients are patients at high risk for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) due to being on immunosuppressive therapy. B cell depletion therapy, including rituximab, is an important strategy for ABO-incompatible transplants. However, knowledge about the effect of B cell depletion therapy on COVID-19 is lacking. Thirty kidney transplant recipients who developed COVID-19 were included in this study. To examine the impact of B cell depletion therapy, we retrospectively investigated the relationship between the background of the patients and the clinical outcome. Of the 30 patients, 13 re...

Knowledge of COVID-19 and associated factors among kidney transplant recipients and donors in Singapore
CONCLUSIONS: Concerted efforts are needed to improve COVID-19 knowledge in kidney transplant recipients and donors, particularly older donors, donors with lower education and patients with financial concerns or feelings of social isolation. Intensive patient education may mitigate the impact of education levels on COVID-19 knowledge levels.PMID:37338491 | DOI:10.4103/singaporemedj.SMJ-2021-386
