RCN London safe staffing report 2014
This report shows that the region’s nursing shortage is increasing with more than 8000 nursing posts in the capital unfilled. 14% of London nursing posts are now vacant, up from 11% a year ago. It calls for system-wide action to ensure London employers are able to recruit enough nurses to keep staffing numbers at the level they believe are needed to keep patients safe. Good practice for handling feedback
Royal College of Nursing -This guidance aims to help health care workers deal with feedback, concerns, complaints and compliments. It has been developed following discussion with RCN members about their own experiences. It is part of the RCN’s commitment to help improve the way the NHS handles feedback and complaints following a review into the NHS complaints system. BMA Updates "Decisions Relating to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation"
On Tuesday, the British Medical Association, in conjunction with Resuscitation Council (UK) and the Royal College of Nursing, published a new guidance, a revised edition of Decisions Relating to Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation. All in it together? The executive pay bill in England’s NHS
This report finds that the pay bill for senior NHS managers is accelerating ahead of pay for nursing staff. This report analyses the results of FOI requests sent to NHS provider trusts in England which revealed that the amount spent on executive directors over the last two years has increased by an average of 6.1%, compared to a 1.6% rise in earnings for nurses, midwives or health visitors. RCN development programme: transforming dementia care in hospitals - evaluation report

The management of waste from health, social and personal care

Frontline First: more than just a number
This report reveals that there are 3,994 fewer full time equivalent nursing staff working in senior positions than in April 2010. Staff working at this level include ward sisters, community matrons, clinical nurse specialists and advanced nurse practitioners. It warns that with almost 4,000 fewer senior nursing posts than 2010, the NHS is being drained of valuable leadership, experience and specialist knowledge from the health service. Building a culture of candour: a review of the threshold for the duty of candour and of the incentives for care organisations to be candid
Royal College of Nursing (RCN) -This review concludes that healthcare organisations must usher in a new culture of candour to ensure patients and their families are told honestly and openly about any harm that has been caused and how it will be put it right. The main recommendation to come from the report was that an environment that allows staff to be trained and supported in admitting errors should be encouraged, reporting them and learning fully from mistakes.
