Facelift for our website
It’s been more than a year and a half since we launched our new website. In other words, it’s hardly new anymore. However, it still does feel new because we keep working on it and updating it all the time. The frontpage contents are a reflection of what goes on in our museum and what the staff are working on at the moment. But, we still feel that it might be time for a – shall we call it – minor facelift? Some considerations so far: Making the navigation bar float at the top of the screen Making the logo banner smaller / less dominant Making the feature banner less wide, so that the sidebar can be ...

My newest OT blog love ;) + missawesomeness.com about to get a facelift
We've got a new OT blog in town....Anonymous OT. I saw Tonya over at TherapyFunZone.com link her on Facebook and curiously clicked. I've gotten a little lazy about exploring my OT blogosphere and haven't seen any new OT blogs in a long time (the newest ones I can think of that I like are MamaOT and Embrace Your Chaos for pediatric blogs, and OTpotential is a great new addition for non-pediatric, serious blogging)I really enjoyed AnonymousOT....here is her link and I also linked to a few of her "test pins" that I may try out soon. http://theanonymousot.com/http://theanonymousot.com/2013/02/18/pinned-on-pinterest-t...

When bone grows in your eye socket
There is a brutal story in Scientific American about a US woman who could not open her right eye as bone grew in her eye socket following a stem cell cosmetic treatment. In this case the doctors extracted mesenchymal stem cells—which can turn into bone, cartilage or fat, among other tissues—and injected those cells back into her face, especially around her eyes. During the face-lift her clinicians had also injected some dermal filler, which plastic surgeons have safely used for more than 20 years to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The principal component of such fillers is calcium hydroxylapatite, a mineral with whi...

Plastic Surgery 101
Kari’s question…I’m tired of wasting money on skin firming products that don’t really work. What kind of plastic surgery options do I have and how much do they cost? The Beauty Brains respond:   Since surgical procedures are not exactly our forte, we asked James Rutherford who writes for the Clevens Center for Facial Cosmetic Surgery for an expert response. We hope this helps! Plastic Surgery for Youthful Skin 101 Aging is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be quite so visible. Hair styles, the right fashion, and a good diet and exercise program can keep anyone feeling and looking years younger...

From Flaws to Quick Fixes: How Cosmetic Surgery Extracts Self-esteem
Many women suffer from bad body image and low self-esteem due to imperfections they view as minor or major in nature. Some of these flaws are more noticeable as they reside on the face, whereas others may be a hidden secret inside the bra such as an inverted nipple. Cosmetic surgery offers women the opportunity to fix these flaws in a somewhat quick fashion. A mini face lift is a quick spin on the traditional face lift. With a mini face lift, you get the benefits of an improved appearance along with a shorter recovery time. This procedure gives the patient the ability to pinpoint specific areas of imperfection and focus on...
