CNM receives another large donation
Central New Mexico Community College received its second large donation within one month in late April, courtesy of one of its former program leaders.
Dr. Diane Klepper, former medical director of CNM’s Respiratory Therapy program, gave Central New Mexico Community College a $500,000 donation April 26. The money is meant to help ensure respiratory therapy is available throughout the state, particularly in its rural areas, according to a releas e from the school.

Ventec Life Systems raises $7m
Ventec Life Systems raised $7 million in a new round of equity financing, according to an SEC filing posted this week.
Ventec produces the VOCSN portable life support system. The system provides 5 different respiratory therapies, including ventilation, oxygen, cough, suction and nebulization.
Money in the round came from 56 unnamed sources, according to the SEC filing, with the 1st sale recorded on April 4. The company is not seeking any more sales in the round.

Hill-Rom launches Monarch wearable airway clearance system
Hill-Rom (NYSE:HRC) said yesterday it launched the Monarch airway clearance system designed to provide high frequency chest wall oscillation.
The Monarch device is a mobile vest which uses personal oscillating discs to provide targeted kinetic energy and HFCWO to the lungs to thin mucus and generate airflow, the Chicago-based company said.
The device is wearable and portable and allows the patient to be active while receiving the therapy, Hill-Rom said, an improvement over earlier versions which required that the user stay seated during use.

Ventec Life Systems wins FDA nod for VOCSN portable life support device
Respiratory care device developer Ventec Life Systems said today it won FDA 510(k) clearance for its VOCSN portable life support device.
The VOCSN device provides 5 different respiratory therapies, including ventilation, oxygen, cough, suction and nebulization. The Bothell, Wash.-based company claims it is the only device cleared by the FDA which provides all 5 respiratory therapies.

Brightree hired Matt Mellott as CEO and promoted Bobby Ghoshal to chief operating officer.

Propeller Health, Vectura ink collaborative connected-inhaler deal
Propeller Health said today it inked a collaborative development deal with inhaled pharmaceutical company Vectura Group to develop a digitally-connected inhaler system.

Funding comes through to train 700 health care workers in Austin
Austin Community College has received a $1 million grant from the Texas Workforce Commission to fund training for roughly 700 area health care workers. Pali Momi Medical Center CEO to head Kauai’s Wilcox Memorial Hospital
