bringing pets to the caribbean
hey everyone! I would like to start an UPDATED thread on bringing pets to the Caribbean (whether its SGU or Ross) ANY INFO helps!! What was your own experiences with bringing pets down (cats vs small dogs vs large dogs). For Ross, how was the quarantine? How was getting the 2 rabies titers before heading to the island? how was the flight itself? For SGU, I don't think you need anything other than vaccines, and a medical exam right? Where can I get rabies pre-exposure vaccines?
Hi all, I am in need of the rabies vaccine series Rabavert or Ivomax in order to volunteer with a wildlife sanctuary. My insurance says they will cover it completely, as long as the place accepts my insurance. The only two places I have found that do it are Passport Health (does not accept any insurance at all - not an option) and Walgreens (not allowed to give any vaccinations right now due to COVID-19). Any hospital or primary care provider I call seems to have no idea what I'm talking... Where can I get rabies pre-exposure vaccines? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Ohio State Rabies Titer
Hey all weird request: I am currently at home due to COVID. My vet school is wanting me to get a rabies titer before in-person clinics start. To avoid having to go back 2 weeks early, I am trying to find a place near me that will do a titer. The closest vet school to me currently is actually Ohio State. I am wondering if there are any current students on here who can tell me where they get their rabies titers done. Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Should I get the rabies pre-exposure vaccine?
Hey everyone! I recently got hired at a small animal clinic after having interned there for about 2 months. I know that many vets and RVTs have their rabies pre-exposure vaccine and I was wondering if I should consider getting it. I will only be working at the clinic for a few months because I have to go back to school so I just didn't know if I should get it or wait for a few years. I'm definitely a slight hypochondriac and during my internship I have been scratched by a handful of cats... Should I get the rabies pre-exposure vaccine? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rabies Vaccine
I just got an internship that requires a rabies vaccine and I know most school require it anyway. First of all how do I find out who can administer that, second how have people paid for it? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Question about the rabies titer
Hey guys! I'm studying veterinary medicine in Germany and just got blood drawn to estimate my titer. I got the primary vaccines 10 months ago and apparently my titer already dropped to 0,3 UI/ml. Now the WHO states that you're only protected with a titer >0,5 UI/ml whereas the ACIP says that a booster should be given when the titer drops below 0,11. Now I'm confused and don't know which guidelines I should follow. How do you handle it in the US? My doctor said that I should get a booster now... Cheapest rabies vaccine
Hey guys, I did search for threads on rabies vaccinations but they all seemed old. I heard that one place to get cheaper rabies vaccinations is through travel clinics, instead of through the vet schools. Anyone have good advice on where/how to get a cheap rabies vaccine? I don't know where I'm going yet, but I'll need one wherever I go. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Rabies Titer Inquiry
I think this is probably a stupid question but last year I got a 3 round rabies vaccine. I am not sure my titer but I know first years need true vaccines. My question is: It's been a year as long as my titer is high am I safe? I've been working with a lot wildlife & rabid cats that have probably been licking thenselves. Am I still protected? I am sure Im fine but I havent gotten my booster so I thought id ask before I enter my first year DVM Thanks! (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Expected Expenses Starting Vet School
So I'm trying to budget for starting school. I've already got moving expenses, rent deposits, club dues, and rabies vaccine. Are there any other expenses I should be worried about? Textbooks are usually not used or are available in libraries or digital format. Thanks for all the help. (Source: Student Doctor Network)
