India bans 14 fixed-dose medicines for likely posing risks to health
The Indian government has banned 14 types of fixed-dose combination (FDC) medicines due to a lack of therapeutic justification and potential risks to humans, according to an expert panel's recommendations. FDCs mix two or more active ingredients in a fixed ratio. The FDCs that have been banned include Nimesulide+ Paracetamol dispersible tablets and Pholcodine+ Promethazine, amongst others. Maiden Pharmaceuticals had license to export, not locally sell cough & cold syrup, India says
India's health and welfare ministry said Thursday that Maiden Pharmaceuticals had the license to only export four drugs that are now linked to have killed 66 children in Gambia. "Four drugs, out of 23, named Promethazine Oral Solution BP, Kofexnalin Baby Cough Syrup, MaKoff Baby Cough Syrup and MaGrip n Cold Syrup, are not sold in India," stated a press release. Motion sickness drug worsens motion perception
