Productivity Bonus Subject to Overhead as Associate?
I am a second year Associate at a multi-specialty group which includes mostly vascular/general surgery and some podiatry. In meeting with my CEO the other day I was informed that although I am close to reaching my wRVU-based quarterly bonus, I actually will not receive any further compensation until I've 'become profitable' for the practice. Essentially, I am being charged overhead expenses as if I were a partner/owner, despite only being an associate with no equity. As of now, the practice... Read more (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Mental health in Vet applications?
Hello all! I hope everyone is safe and doing ok! I have a question but first I need to give a bit of background: I went through some things (COVID related things that ended up spiraling out of control, losses happening left and right) and ended up withdrawing in the ninth week of the quarter, two quarters away from graduating. I was actually admitted to a mental health hospital for a bit, went through intensive group therapy, all that jazz, but after around 3 months I applied to work at a... DAT in a week- o chem help
Hey guys, I'm writing this in the midst of a mini-meltdown. So my DAT is in a week. I've been studying for only 3 weeks (I know, recipe for disaster). Basically, what happened was my DAT was scheduled for March, got canceled due to COVID, and I decided to just forget about it until I had a guaranteed date because it was causing me a lot of anxiety and I was taking the max credit hours, doing independent research, and creating a non-profit (I was part-time the quarter before to focus on DAT... We Should Wage War on the Insurance Companies
Sorry to incite violence, but it's true. This year while front line healthcare workers continue to put themselves and family members at risk in order to care for the sick, insurance companies are posting record profits. UnitedHealth revealed earnings of $5 billion dollars during the first quarter of 2020. Up 3.4% from the same quarter last year (UnitedHealth Reports Profit, Citing Falling Demand for... What is going on at walgreens?
I heard they missed the profit mark on wal street for sure last quarter. They blamed it on PBM's and generic drug costs. Said generic drugs were going down? made no sense. anyway, a manager friend in south Florida just got cut at a premier store. Hes alone now, 12 hour shifts....etc. I also heard rumors of them closing stores earlier? They did say they would begin "cost cutting efforts" in the press release... Anybody have any experience to share as of yet? thanks. (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Chance DO Cali Resident
Hey everyone! I'm currently graduating from a UC Davis with a 3 and 2.8 sGPA (I had a huge fall in my junior year due to the loss of multiple close friends and averaged below a 3.0 that year). My last year consisted of 14 science classes out of 16 (quarter system) with an average GPA of 3.3. I actually made a huge mistake by taking all the hardest classes, but nonetheless I'm proud I was able to do what I did considering everything that has been going on in my life. My MCAT FLs are 516/518... Chance DO Cali Resident (Source: Student Doctor Network)

The health care industry is bound to collapse soon, experts say
http://nypost.com/2017/04/30/the-health-care-industry-is-bound-to-collapse-soon-experts-say/ “Health care companies borrowed too much money, and have grown their debt faster than their revenue, so you have to have a pullback.” Earlier this year, for example, MD Anderson Cancer, Houston’s second-biggest employer, said it was slashing 1,000 jobs amid losses that surpassed $100 million in one quarter alone. Job growth overall in the health care sector is slowing.Click to expand... (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Interesting Science Q & A
by ChloeMica (Posted Wed Sep 14, 2016 2:21 am) The research from academic community in science Q&A is endless, the research is beyond the information science, communication, sociology, computer science, as well as some other fields. Clearly, medical science has kept gaining ground on the most dreaded conditions, which means further research advances like cell adhesion peptides could be significant for social progress to a large degree. Thus, related science Q&A might attract increasing concerns in public.1. When will people lose the ability to learn new words? The latest research shows that people around the age of 60 began...

DO Is this a realistic goal for me?
I'm seriously considering a career in health care. That said, I am very concerned with my GPA and a couple of grades I have. I am a chemistry major and my school (University of Oregon) operates on a quarter system. I am probably going to be going primarily for DO schools given I doubt I will be competitive in MD schools. While the MD would be nice, I'd be more than happy with a DO if it meant I could pursue a career as a physician. I've thought long and hard about this decision (several years at least) and I always come back to this career as the one that interests me the most. cGPA: 3.15 sGPA: ~2.91 Gen Chem I-III: A-, ...
