Saving my life – Mel ’ s story
Hi, I am a 55yr old woman who had been through peri-menopause and not had a period for 18mths. Then in the beginning of July 18 I noticed my breasts felt larger and really very sensitive. In August I had a period which I thought strange so went to GP. I was told not to worry but as there was a slight chance this could mean cancer I would be seen within 2wks at hospital. I tried not to worry and got my appt with the gynaecologist. He did a hysteroscopy and found a polyp which he said looked benign but needed to be sent for tests. Doctors Using Artificial Intelligence To Make Colonoscopies More Accurate
BOSTON (CBS) – Colon cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in the United States and now doctors in California are using artificial intelligence to make colonoscopies more accurate and help save lives. AI colonoscopies would not replace routine colonoscopies, which most people need to get every 10 years starting at age 45 or 50 depending on whom you ask, but this new technology can help doctors identify polyps that they might otherwise miss. Polyps are growths that can turn into cancer but if removed early can prevent cancer from growing. The artificial intelligence uses an algorithm, analyzing 98 images ...

My cancer and hysterectomy – Yovnne ’ s story
I went through the menopause 15 years ago, and suddenly started to experience a very slight bloody discharge in the mornings when I relieved myself. I also experienced extreme exhaustion. I did not want to do anything, and had to drag myself out to work, and even to meet up with friends. When I went to my GP I was immediately referred for an ultrasound, and it was discovered that the lining of the womb was considerably thicker than was expected for someone with my history. I then had a hysteroscopy as an outpatient, which failed as I found it so painful. I was put at my ease after feeling I had failed to cope with the pain...

Check-Cap touts interim post-CE Mark C-Scan study results
Check-Cap (NSDQ:CHEK) today released interim results from the post-CE Mark approval study of its C-Scan system version 3, touting the device’s ability to detect polyps in un-prepped colons. The Israel-based company’s C-Scan system is designed as an alternative to standard colon cancer screening methods. The system uses an ingestible, ultra-low dose X-ray capsule and a wireless tracking system to return structural information on the lumen of the colon to create 2D and 3D maps. The study aimed to assess the safety and clinical performance of the C-Scan system version 3 in detecting polyps, Check-cap said. Data came ...

Check-Cap seeks CE Mark for C-Scan diagnostic capsule
Check-Cap (NSDQ:CHEK) said today that it filed for CE-Mark registration of its C-Scan ingestible capsule, designed for preparation-free, colorectal cancer screening. Data used to support the EU regulatory submission showed that C-Scan had a 44% sensitivity in the 45 study participants included in an analysis for polyps, with 89% specificity. The company reported that sensitivity strongly correlated to the percentage of the colon scanned – sensitivity was 78% and 100% for participants where greater than 50% and 70% of the colon was scanned, respectively. The 66 patients enrolled in the trial ingested the capsule and ...
