Advice for 2019 Perio/AEGD application.
Hello guys I'm a dentist from Peru (sorry for not using the international section but I think I could get more help here), I'll be applying this year to residency programs and I could use some advice. I'm not sure if my profile is good enough or even competitive enough to apply for the perio residency but I like the idea of going to an AEGD first. A quick summary of my profile: School: UPC Graduated July 2017 Grades: top 10% of my class (we don't have a GPA system) Work:... Advice for 2019 Perio/AEGD application. Am I a URM? I'm confuzzled.
Hello fellow SDNers! I am half Peruvian half Puerto Rican, so the question is as follows: Would I be considered URM? I am fluent in Spanish and Italian as well (not sure if it's relevant so I will just put that on the table). Thanks to any SDNer who offers valuable insight (Source: Student Doctor Network)

I have tutored biology and organic chemistry at my school. I also have done research but no publications or presentations. I eventually... I would love some feedback (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Are medical trips worth it?
Have the option to go to South Africa to do some medical work with fellow classmates for 2,700 bucks, Himalayas for 5,000 bucks, peru for 3,000 bucks, and some others. Like most students, I don't have a lot of money....I love traveling and could definitely see it being fun, but am I missing out if I don't go on these trips? (Source: Student Doctor Network)

Medical Volunteering Abroad Bad for Resume?
I'm an M1 and I'd really like to do something abroad this summer, probably the entire summer if I can. I know a couple of organizations I've worked with before in Peru and Guatemala that have different medical volunteering opportunities as well as legitimate Medical Spanish Terminology classes (I can already speak fluent Spanish but medical terminology is like a different language even in English so I think it'd be cool). A classmate of mine advised against this because they said I wouldn't... Medical Volunteering Abroad Bad for Resume? (Source: Student Doctor Network)
