Vitamin D May Reduce Asthma Severity; Smell Test Could Predict Dementia Risk
BOSTON (CBS) – A common vitamin could reduce the severity of asthma attacks in people with the condition. London researchers reviewed a number of previous studies involving almost a thousand patients with asthma and found that supplementation with vitamin D reduced the need for ER visits and hospitalizations for asthma by 50 percent. Patients on vitamin D also appeared to reduce the need for treatment with steroids by 30 percent. Most of the study subjects were adults with mild to moderate asthma so it is unclear what the effects might be with children or people with more severe asthma. And the patients were continuing t...

In fact, when scientists studied Albert Einstein’s brain they found he had a wealth of “other” brain cells that accounted for his genius.  I’m talking about “glia,” or “glial” brain cells. Scientists have known about glial cells for a long time. But they thought they were just support for the n...

Rather sizeable fibroid and my recovery – Anne-Marie ’ s story
I underwent an abdominal hysterectomy on 14th June this year having had problems for the last two years due to a rather sizeable fibroid – everything was taken out with the exception of my ovaries. There seems to be very little information available generally with the exception of what is provided through the Hysterectomy Association and the forums and information they provide which have proven invaluable and very reassuring. I was really quite anxious in the days leading up to the operation – I had managed to get very distracted with work up until around 4 days before when things started to quieten down. This ...

Luteolin: How To Reduce Breast Cancer Risk
More than 100 women die of breast cancer in the U.S. every day. It's the second leading cause of cancer deaths in American women. But in my opinion, many of those women really die of a tragic medical error. Let me explain… Millions of women in the U.S. have taken Big Pharma's hormone replacement therapy (HRT). Their doctors prescribe it to try to relieve the symptoms of menopause. Like hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings and weight gain. But what the drug companies try to pass off as hormones are actually synthetic concoctions. They are fake versions of the estrogen and progesterone that your body makes n...
