Comparison of different sustained ‐release opioids and acute respiratory conditions in patients with cancer and chronic kidney disease
ConclusionsThe findings suggest that the risk of acute respiratory conditions may be lower in patients with CKD who use oxycodone for cancer pain than in those who use morphine. Additionally, no difference in the risk of acute respiratory conditions was found between oxycodone and fentanyl use. (Source: Pharmacotherapy: The Journal of Human Pharmacology and Drug Therapy)

Private prescribing of controlled opioids in England, 2014-2021: a retrospective observational study
CONCLUSION: Controlled opioids prescribed by private prescribers in England decreased and were primarily prescribed in London. To ensure patient safety, the monitoring and surveillance of controlled opioids dispensed privately should continue and items linked to 'unidentified doctors' should be addressed further.PMID:37957023 | DOI:10.3399/BJGP.2023.0146 (Source: The British Journal of General Practice)
