Using an eLearning Module to Facilitate Sepsis Knowledge Acquisition Across Multiple Institutions and Learner Disciplines
The objective of this multicenter study was to assess knowledge acquisition and retention for pediatric sepsis across multiple health care provider roles, using an adaptive and interactive eLearning module. An eLearning module improved immediate and delayed pediatric sepsis knowledge in pediatric health care providers across multiple institutions and provider roles. Immediate knowledge gain was meaningful as indicated by effect sizes, although by the time of the delayed test, the effect was smaller. This module fills an important gap in currently available pediatric sepsis education. (Source: Current Awareness Service for Health (CASH))

Radio emission from a pulsars magnetic pole revealed by general relativity
We present polarimetric radio observations of the pulsar PSR J1906+0746 that demonstrate the validity of the geometrical model of pulsar polarization. We reconstruct the (sky-projected) polarization emission map over the pulsar’s magnetic pole and predict the disappearance of the detectable emission by 2028. Two tests of GR are performed using this system, including the spin precession for strongly self-gravitating bodies. We constrain the relativistic treatment of the pulsar polarization model and measure the pulsar beaming fraction, with implications for the population of neutron stars and the expected rate of neut...

The Guardian view on genetics: diversity is destiny | Editorial
Same sex attraction isn ’t genetic. It’s humanThe argument that some behaviour is “in our genes” is distrusted by the left. Too often it is used to whitewash terrible injustices. Yet it cannot be entirely dismissed. Certain patterns of behaviour and thought, such as the faculty of language acquisition, are very clearly a part of our genetic inheritance as a species. The insti nct for justice itself appears to arise spontaneously in small children. The escape from the idea that genes determine our fate is not to pretend that they have no influence, but to come to understand that they can have many di...
