Status of the neonatal follow-up system in China: survey and analysis
CONCLUSIONS: There is significant variation in eligibility criteria, duration of follow-up, types of assessments, staffing, training and facilities available. Coordination and standardization are urgently needed.PMID:37452966 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-023-00742-6 (Source: World Journal of Pediatrics : WJP)

Prevalence of hypertension and its associations with body composition across Chinese and American children and adolescents
CONCLUSIONS: The burden of HTN in Chinese children and adolescents was substantial and much greater than that in the US, and the contribution of obesity to HTN was higher in the US than in CN. Augmenting the proportion of muscle mass in body composition has a protective effect against HTN in both populations. Optimizing body composition positively influences blood pressure in children and adolescents, particularly those with high-level physical activity.PMID:37442884 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-023-00740-8 (Source: World Journal of Pediatrics : WJP)

Maternal weight and its association with risk of overweight in offspring: a trajectory analysis from a birth cohort in China
CONCLUSION: Maternal prepregnancy overweight and excessive gestational weight gain were associated with increasing or high-level childhood body mass index trajectories as well as a greater risk of overweight at 7 years.PMID:37389783 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-023-00736-4 (Source: World Journal of Pediatrics : WJP)

NLRP3  activation in macrophages promotes acute intestinal injury in neonatal necrotizing enterocolitis
CONCLUSIONS: Macrophage activation may be essential for NEC development. NLRP3/caspase-1/IL-1β cellular signals derived from macrophages may be the underlying mechanism of NEC development, and all these may be therapeutic targets for developing treatments for NEC.PMID:37389784 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-023-00727-5 (Source: World Journal of Pediatrics : WJP)

Delivery room resuscitation intensity and associated neonatal outcomes of 24 < sup > +0 < /sup > -31 < sup > +6 < /sup >  weeks' preterm infants in China: a retrospective cross-sectional study
CONCLUSIONS: Increased intensity of DR interventions was associated with increased mortality and morbidities in very preterm infants in China. There is wide variation in resuscitative approaches across delivery centers, and ongoing quality improvement to standardize resuscitation practices is needed.PMID:37389785 | DOI:10.1007/s12519-023-00738-2 (Source: World Journal of Pediatrics : WJP)
