Predictors of functional impairment and mortality in patients on maintenance hemodialysis
CONCLUSIONS: Older age and suppressed PTH levels are predictors of mortality in ESRD patients receiving MHD. These patients require regular follow-ups to rule out cardiovascular morbidity. Functional impairment is prevalent but remains underdiagnosed in MHD patients. It should be monitored regularly to improve quality of life in ESRD.PMID:37615221 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13173 (Source: Seminars in Dialysis)

Incidence and risk factors of cognitive dysfunction in hemodialysis patients: A systematic review and meta-analysis
CONCLUSIONS: The most important risk factors for cognitive dysfunction associated with hemodialysis might be female gender, old age, diabetes, and stroke. Close attention should be paid to such patients for early prevention.PMID:37592399 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13171 (Source: Seminars in Dialysis)

Computational fluid dynamics simulation of hemodynamic changes in a hemodialysis patient with central venous stenosis treated with stent
Semin Dial. 2023 Aug 7. doi: 10.1111/sdi.13170. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTWe comment on the recently published to investigate hemodynamic changes in central venous stenosis patients before and after stent placement. Through the evidence, we believe that the boundary conditions in computational models and simulations of this study are incorrect in three points.PMID:37548053 | DOI:10.1111/sdi.13170 (Source: Seminars in Dialysis)
