Unrestricted vs 3-day low-residue diet for colonoscopy preparation. Results of a feasibility randomized trial
CONCLUSIONS: It is feasible to test the impact of an unrestricted diet for adequate bowel preparation. Comparable cleansing results were achieved, but the unrestricted diet showed better tolerability.PMID:38591600 | DOI:10.17235/reed.2024.10417/2024 (Source: Revista Espanola de Enfermedades Digestivas)

Sclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (SANT) of the spleen can be safely diagnosed by a core percutaneous ultrasound-guided biopsy
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.17235/reed.2024.10373/2024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTSclerosing angiomatoid nodular transformation (SANT) is a rare benign lesion of the spleen. SANT cannot be distinguished from other benign or malignant splenic tumors based on imaging findings. So, diagnosis relies on histopathologic examination. Although splenectomy is frequently considered as an option, core needle biopsy tissue analysis is safe and accurate to avoid surgery.PMID:38591625 | DOI:10.17235/reed.2024.10373/2024 (Source: Revista Espanola de Enfermedades Digestivas)

Blue esophagus as a diagnosis of aortic dissection
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.17235/reed.2024.10319/2024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTA 76-year-old patient, admitted to the department of cardiac surgery, anticoagulated, started with acute dysphagia. An upper endoscopy revealed a blue mucosa from the upper to distal esophagus, with narrowing of the lumen caused by an extrinsic compression. A computed to¬mography (CT) of the thorax was performed, showing a 85x55 mm mediastinal hematoma causing extrinsic compression of the esophagus. Subsequently, a contrast-enhanced CT scan was performed, confirming a contained rupture of descending thoracic aortic dissection...

Recurrent obstruction of biliary stent-in-stent: a heated solution
Rev Esp Enferm Dig. 2024 Apr 9. doi: 10.17235/reed.2024.10390/2024. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTIntraductal radiofrequency ablation (RFA) has been used in the management of malignant biliary obstruction and ampullary neoplasms. Some small studies refer to its role in managing benign biliary strictures with some promising results. The complications are not neglectable, namely cholangitis, pancreatitis, bleeding, and perforation, although most of them can be managed conservatively. There are two catheters available. Only the ERLA (EndoLumunal Radiofrequency Ablation, Taewoong Medical) catheter can control temperature and i...
