Effect of postoperative radiotherapy for free flap volume changing after tongue reconstruction
ConclusionsWe evaluated the effect of postoperative RT on volume reduction in 35 cases of the reconstructed tongue with CF and MCF using a computer-assisted volume rendering technique. In this study, the effect of RT on volume reduction was different between the CF and MCF. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Nasal septal deviation in the unilateral cleft lip and palate deformities: a three-dimensional analysis
ConclusionOur results demonstrated that the maximum septal deviation angle and dimension had significant differences in individuals with a unilateral cleft, compared to a skeletal Class III control group. However, no statistically significant discrepancy was observed between three levels (ANS, PNS and ANS –PNS middle levels) in the unilateral cleft patients. (Source: Oral Radiology)

CBCT analysis of haller cells: relationship with accessory maxillary ostium and maxillary sinus pathologies
ConclusionAlthough HC is a possible predisposal factor, it is not a determinant for maxillary sinus pathologies per se. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Cone-beam computed tomography classification of the mandibular second molar root morphology and its relationship to panoramic radiographic appearance
ConclusionsWhen panoramic images show fused root types, CBCT examinations should be planned to clarify the root canal configuration. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Evaluation of impacted canines ’ localization and adjacent lateral incisors’ root resorption with orthopantomography and cone-beam computed tomography
ConclusionsPediatric dentists should prefer OPG as the first choice for radiographic imaging for the diagnosis of impacted canine at an early age. Follow-up OPGs should be carefully studied with advancing age. The CBCT should be preferred to prevent complications, to view its relationship with adjacent anatomical structures and canine localization in detail. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Deep learning object detection of maxillary cyst-like lesions on panoramic radiographs: preliminary study
ConclusionsUsing deep learning object detection technology, maxillary cyst-like lesions could be detected in approximately 75 –77%. (Source: Oral Radiology)

MRI characteristics of the asymptomatic temporomandibular joint in patients with unilateral temporomandibular joint disorder
ConclusionsUnilateral symptomatic TMD is related to the presence of imaging abnormalities on the contralateral, asymptomatic side, suggesting that the development and progression of joint changes in symptomatic and contralateral asymptomatic TMJs are interrelated. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Estimating bone mineral density using MRI in medicine and dentistry: a literature review
ConclusionWithin the limitations of this study, the present findings suggest that MRI is accurate to indirectly estimate bone density by assessing BMF, and could be clinically relevant during dental treatment planning. (Source: Oral Radiology)

Sialo-cutaneous fistula with ectopic submandibular gland sialolith, revealing a hidden ipsilateral enlarged and elongated styloid process: a consideration based on CT findings
We report herein an unusual case of a 49-year-old obese man with sialo-cutaneous fistula containing a large, ectopic sia lolith in subcutaneous tissue that was expected to undergo spontaneous elimination, but revealed hidden Eagle syndrome featuring an ipsilateral enlarged, elongated styloid process. Furthermore, we offer a thorough review of the literature regarding sialo-fistulae and highlight the relationship betwe en an abnormal styloid process and submandibular sialadenitis with sialolithiasis and new tract formation based on computed tomography. Radiological imaging features of the salivary glands in xerostomia induced by an immune checkpoint inhibitor
We report a case of a 56-year-old male patient diagnosed with ICI-induced xerostomia. The patien t underwent various imaging examinations to investigate the condition of the salivary glands, which indicated the following: (1) less specific findings on contrast-enhanced computed tomography, (2) mixed with intermediate and low signal intensity on bothT1-weighted and fat-suppressedT2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging and poor “salt and pepper” appearance on magnetic resonance sialography, and (3) multiple ovoid hypoechoic areas with hyperechoic bands without acute sialadenitis on ultrasound. These radiologic imaging fin...

Prevalence and morphometric analysis of the alveolar antral artery in a group of Thai population by cone beam computed tomography
ConclusionThe intrasinus mediolateral position of the AAA canal is a common structure in the lateral wall of maxillary sinus, which could be detected with CBCT images. The all-in type is the most prevalent mediolateral route among a novel 7-type classification system of AAA routes. Owing to the short distance between the AAA canal and the alveolar crest in the first and second molar locations, CBCT images should be taken to investigate the AAA position and route before sinus lift procedure to prevent the risk of hemorrhage. Automatic measurement of mandibular cortical bone width on cone-beam computed tomography images
ConclusionThe automatic and manual measurements showed a strong agreement. The new method could drastically reduce routine clinical workload. Additionally, our method enables the measurement of the cortex width in all the mandibular bones inferior to the MF. (Source: Oral Radiology)
