Antenatal Care Reduces Neonatal Mortality in Ethiopia: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies
ConclusionThis finding indicated that neonatal mortality was decreased among infants born to women who had at least one ANC visit compared to infants born to women who had no ANC visit. Therefore, promoting and strengthening ANC service utilization during pregnancy would accelerate the reduction of neonatal mortality in Ethiopia. (Source: Maternal and Child Health Journal)

Attitudes Toward COVID-19 Vaccination Among Pregnant Persons in Urban Hospital-Affiliated Practices: Exploring Themes in Vaccine Hesitancy

The Role of Adverse Pregnancy Outcomes in Conventional Cardiovascular Risk Prediction
ConclusionWomen with APOs did not have an additional risk of CVD, controlling for traditional risk factors in the PCE and this sex-specific factor did not improve risk prediction. Black race was consistently a strong predictor of CVD even with data limitations. Further study of APOs can help determine how to best use this information for CVD prevention in women. Implementing a Text Messaging Intervention to Engage Fathers in Home Visiting
ConclusionThe F-CHWs were able to successfully enroll fathers into Text4Dad. F-CHWs and fathers found Text4Dad content acceptable to their circumstances. Text4Dad technology was viewed as usable, with some limitations. F-CHWs experienced challenges accessing the Text4Dad platform while on home visits. Results suggested that F-CHWs did not use Text4Dad to facilitate interaction, and accordingly, fathers had a lower than anticipated response rate to texts sent by their F-CHWs. We conclude with future directions for improving the implementation of text messaging programs in community-based fatherhood programs. (Source: Matern...

Partner-Support and Gestational Duration Among Pregnant Women Who Smoke
DiscussionPartner-support may increase gestational duration and reduce PTB risk among pregnant women who smoke, especially among Hispanic women. Sharing a bed with a partner was associated with a longer gestational duration. Our findings may be interpreted with caution due to limitations such as small sample size, recruitment within a single metropolitan area, and partner-support measurement via maternal reports only. A partner-support intervention to increase gestational duration is warranted. (Source: Maternal and Child Health Journal)

Association Between the Autonomy of Peruvian Women and the Choice of the Place of Delivery: Analysis of a National Survey, 2019
ConclusionBeing a woman with a higher level of autonomy was related to a higher prevalence of institutionalized childbirth. Therefore, as decision-making is a multifactorial characteristic, it is necessary to study in depth the determinants of non-institutionalized childbirth in women with less autonomy. Examining Black Women ’s Breastfeeding Experiences in the United States: A Scoping Review of Qualitative Studies
ConclusionThe breastfeeding experience for Black women is unique and poses additional areas for intervention based on cultural and historical stigma. Incorporating the identified factors into intervention design is key to creating more effective policies for improving breastfeeding rates in the Black women and closing the gap across racial/ethnic demographics in the United States. Still, more qualitative research with culturally relevant theories needs to be done to investigate the full scope and complexities of breastfeeding as a Black woman to develop messaging to encourage the behavior. The Effect of Maternal Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on Substance Use During Pregnancy
Conclusions for PracticeAs hypothesized, a higher prevalence of mothers referred to the CPT had  ≥ 4 ACEs than women in the general population (50.9% vs. 15.2%), and a large proportion had used substances while pregnant. Routine prenatal ACEs screening and universal, nonpunitive toxicology testing of infants and mothers at birth may provide opportunities for intervention while reducing t he transgenerational impact of ACEs.
