Comprehensive treatment protocol for peri-implantitis: an up-to date narrative review of the literature
J Periodontal Implant Sci. 2024 Jan 4. doi: 10.5051/jpis.2303360168. Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTThis narrative review describes up-to-date treatment options for peri-implantitis and proposes a treatment protocol and flowchart based on the current scientific evidence. Peri-implantitis treatment should be based on the phased treatment protocol for periodontitis, which is a continuous flow of decisions for extraction, nonsurgical and surgical treatments with step-by-step re-evaluation. The protocol's goals are to fulfill the success criteria for peri-implantitis treatment (probing depth of ≤5 mm, and absence of bleeding ...

Guided bone regeneration of calcium phosphate-coated and strontium ranelate-doped titanium mesh in a rat calvarial defect model
CONCLUSIONS: Cyclic pre-calcification of a Ti mesh with a uniform TNT layer increased bioactivity, and subsequent doping with Sr ranelate effectively improved bone regeneration in bone defects.PMID:38290999 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2303000150 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)

Clinical evaluation of root coverage in Miller class III/RT2 labial gingival recession treated with interdisciplinary periodontal-orthodontic therapy: a randomized controlled clinical trial
CONCLUSIONS: Interdisciplinary periodontal-orthodontic approach may be more beneficial in terms of achieving improved RC%, esthetic and resolution of hypersensitivity in the management of Miller class III/RT2 GR in malaligned mandibular anteriors.TRIAL REGISTRATION: ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT04255914.PMID:38290996 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2204100205 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)

Phytotherapy in periodontics as an effective and sustainable supplemental treatment: a narrative review
CONCLUSIONS: Several readily available herbal formulations are now available on the market and have been shown to be effective as supplemental periodontal phytotherapy. However, these should be used under the supervision of a dental professional to ensure optimal benefits and effectiveness. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the understanding of suggested herbal prescription practices among dental professionals.PMID:38290997 | DOI:10.5051/jpis.2301420071 (Source: Journal of Periodontal and Implant Science)
